Three Women and a Piano Tuner by Helen Cooper

An offbeat, lyrical drama about how our hopes and dreams can be thwarted by the choices we make - and by the ones we don't make. Ella's got a project. After ten years she has completed her piano concerto, and now she needs the help of Liz and Beth to get it performed. But first they've got some history to negotiate, and some old scores to settle. Helen Cooper's play Three Women and a Piano Tuner was first staged at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester, in 2004, transferring to Hampstead Theatre, London, in 2005.

'A complex, slippery study of psychological crisis.. poignant and roaringly funny'

* The Times *

'An astonishing piece - witty, emotionally raw and deeply affecting - that leaves you gasping at the imaginative ingenuity of the dramatist's central conceit... exceptionally touching and ingenious'

* Telegraph *

'A strong, beautiful, haunting play'

* Sunday Times *
Helen Cooper's other plays include Mrs Gauguin, seen at the Almeida, and Mrs Vershinin and The House of Ruby Moon (both at Riverside Studios). She also wrote version of Hedda Gabler for Harriet Walter and the screenplay for Mike Figgis' Miss Julie. She is married to Mike Bradwell, director of the Bush Theatre, and lives in West London.
