Thus Was Adonis Murdered by Sarah Caudwell

For young barrister Julia Larwood, it was to be a vacation in pursuit of romance, and a flight from the tax man.in short, an Art Lover's Tour of Italy. But poor, deluded Julia--how could she have known that the ravishing Art Lover, for whom she had conceived a fatal passion, was himself an employee of the Inland Revenue? Or that her hard-won night of passion would end in murder--with her personal, inscribed copy of the current Finance Act found lying a few feet away from the corpse.

So Was Adonis Murdered, The Shortest Road to Hades, The Sirens Sang of Murder, and The Sibyl in Her Tomb are all written by Sarah Caudwell. She went to St. Mary's University to study law. Anne's College, Oxford; admitted to the Chancery Bar; and practiced law in Lincoln's Inn for some years. She then went on to work for a big London bank's legal department, where she specialized in international tax planning. In the year 2000, she passed away.
