Timing Jitter in Time-of-Flight Range Imaging Cameras
Timing Jitter in Time-of-Flight Range Imaging Cameras
Summary
This book explains how depth measurements from the Time-of-Flight (ToF) range imaging cameras are influenced by the electronic timing-jitter. The book discusses timing-jitter in the emitted light signal, which is sensible since the light signal of the camera is relatively straightforward to access.

Timing Jitter in Time-of-Flight Range Imaging Cameras by Gehan Anthonys
This book explains how depth measurements from the Time-of-Flight (ToF) range imaging cameras are influenced by the electronic timing-jitter. The author presents jitter extraction and measurement techniques for any type of ToF range imaging cameras. The author mainly focuses on ToF cameras that are based on the amplitude modulated continuous wave (AMCW) lidar techniques that measure the phase difference between the emitted and reflected light signals. The book discusses timing-jitter in the emitted light signal, which is sensible since the light signal of the camera is relatively straightforward to access. The specific types of jitter that present on the light source signal are investigated throughout the book. The book is structured across three main sections: a brief literature review, jitter measurement, and jitter influence in AMCW ToF range imaging.Gehan Anthonys is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) since 2007 and recently completed his Ph.D. degree in Electronics in the School of Engineering at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. He received a B.Sc. degree in Applied Sciences at the University of Sri Jayawardanepura in 2001, and a B.Tech. degree in Computer Engineering at OUSL in 2005. He received M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Automation at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 2009 and 2014, respectively. He has more than 12 publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings together. In addition, he has authored a research monograph and a book chapter. His current research interests are in the fields of mathematical modelling, signal and image processing, applied electromagnetic and control systems. Furthermore, he is a senior memberof IEEE and an associate member of the Institution of Engineers in Sri Lanka (AMIESL).
