The first major cross-national study of ethnic minority disadvantage in the labour market. Standard analyses, using the most authoritative datasets, enable the reader to make precise comparisons. Unequal Chances by Anthony Francis Heath

This is the first major cross-national study of ethnic minority disadvantage in the labour market. It focuses on the experiences of the 'second generation', that is of the children of immigrants, in a range of affluent western countries (western Europe, North America, Australia, Israel).

Sin Yi Cheung taught at Oxford Brookes University before taking up a senior lectureship in Sociology at University of Birmingham, UK. Her research interests are in the areas of social stratification, sociology of education and social inequalities, with a specific focus on ethnic minorities in western countries and in comparative research. Her most recent work, Unequal Chances: Ethnic Minorities in Western Labour Markets (British Academy and Oxford University Press, 2007), was a comparative study co-led with Professor Anthony Heath at University of Oxford.
