Voices of the Revolution by Peter Vansittart
This is the story of the French Revolution in the words of its supporters, enemies, victims and bystanders. It is a chronological account compiled from diaries, letters, speeches, broadsheets, placards and newspapers and is published to mark its bicentenery. The author has also written Happy and Glorious!, Voices from the Great War, and Voices 1870-1914, as well as 24 novels.
Peter Vansittart was the author of 29 books including his autobiographical work, Paths from a White Horse. In 1969 he won the Society of Authors Traveling Scholarship, and in 1981 he was one of six recipients of the first Writers' Bursaries awarded by the Arts Council. He was also a recipient of an O.B.E. for services to literature and his mastery of historical fiction.
