Matthew Smith worked for three years as a desk editor for Pan Macmillan book publishers before joining 2000 AD as an assistant editor in July 2000, to work on a comic he had been reading religiously since 1985. In December 2001, he was named editor of the Galaxy's Greatest, and in January 2006, he was named editor-in-chief of the 2000 AD series. He is based in Oxford.
