The Welsh Pony by Wynne Davies
The Welsh Mountain Pony can be regarded as the 'fountain' of the breed and its origins are even traced back to the times of Julius Caesar. This work explores the history and development of the breed, the breed standard, the leading studs and personalities, and the shows, auctions and performance.
Wynne Davies was awarded the MBE in 1995 for almost half a century's dedication to Welsh ponies and cobs. Dr Davies joined the Welsh Pony and Cob Society in 1948, has been a Council member since 1955, President in 1984/5 and Publicity Officer since 1978. He is the author of six previous publications for J.A. Allen and has been a regular contributor to equestrian magazines, notably Horse and Hound, for fifty-two years.
