The White Scorpion by Rob Sinclair

Amid the chaos of a violent crisis in an African nation, a former spy fights to prevent millions of deaths . . .

Rule number one for an agent of the secretive JIA is to follow orders, no matter what. But James Ryker has never cared much for rules. He only wants to do what's right.

When he's assigned to join a crew of elite security personnel in Chabon, Africa, Ryker's mission objective is clouded by politics and obfuscation, and he knows only that to protect British interests in the region, he has to infiltrate the close protection team of the government of Chabon, a country with a dark and violent past. Arriving in Chabon's crumbling capital, Kilpassa, Ryker finds a country on the brink of civil war. A growing civilian rebellion threatens peace, with claims of atrocities committed by both sides, including the frail government run by enigmatic President Benyu--a former military general who took control of the country in a violent coup.

As he's drawn into Benyu's inner circle, it soon becomes clear to Ryker that in Chabon, the lines between good and bad, and right and wrong, are nearly impossible to identify. With a crisis of epic proportions unfolding before his eyes, Ryker knows one thing for sure: With or without the backing of his superiors, he must take drastic action, and quickly, or risk putting millions of innocent lives in danger.

Rob is the creator of the critically acclaimed and best-selling Enemy espionage thriller series, which stars Carl Logan, an embattled operative. Dance with the Enemy, his spectacular debut, was released in 2014 and introduced the world to the intriguing Carl Logan. Rise of the Enemy, the second novel in the series, was released in April 2015, and Hunt for the Enemy, the third, was released in February 2016. The Enemy series has gained considerable critical acclaim, with many reviewers and readers comparing Rob's work to that of top-tier thriller authors such as Lee Child and Vince Flynn. Rob's most recent work, the pulsating psychological thriller Dark Fragments, was released in November 2016 by Bloodhound Books and has been characterized as brilliant, scary, and an expertly written plot.

Rob began writing in 2009 after promising his wife, a voracious reader, that he would write a can't put down thriller. After graduating from The University of Nottingham in 2002, he worked for over 13 years for a worldwide accounting business, specializing in forensic fraud investigations on a national and international level. Rob is now a full-time writer. Rob is originally from the North East of England and has lived and worked in a variety of fast-paced places, including New York, before settling in the West Midlands with his wife and two young sons.
