Wholeness and the Implicate Order by David Bohm
David Bohm was one of the foremost scientific thinkers and philosophers of our time. Although deeply influenced by Einstein, he was also, more unusually for a scientist, inspired by mysticism. Indeed, in the 1970s and 1980s he made contact with both J. Krishnamurti and the Dalai Lama whose teachings helped shape his work. In both science and philosophy, Bohm's main concern was with understanding the nature of reality in general and of consciousness in particular. In this classic work he develops a theory of quantum physics which treats the totality of existence as an unbroken whole. Writing clearly and without technical jargon, he makes complex ideas accessible to anyone interested in the nature of reality.
F. David Peat was born in Liverpool and was awarded a PhD at Liverpool University before moving to Canada. For a number of years he carried out research in theoretical physics but his constant desire to find a the question that lies behind the questiona led to an encounter with the physicist and philosopher David Bohm, whom Einstein had described as his a spiritual sona . The two remained friends and were working together on a second book at the time of Bohm's death. In 1979 Peat decided to focus on writing and is now author of over twenty books that deal with such topics as Jungian synchronicity, creativity, chaos theory, quantum theory and the Native American universe. In 2007 Pari Publishing brought out his scientific autobiography Pathways of Chance. Peat has also organized meetings of artists and scientists, and scientists and Native American elders. In 1996 Peat moved from Canada to the medieval hilltop village of Pari near Siena in Tuscany. There he and his wife established the Pari Center for New Learning which holds conferences and courses as well as an active visitors program.
