Why? by Tony Ross
There is one thing Lily says that drives her dad mad. Why? She asks it in the morning, in the day and at night. She asks it all the time. But one day her questioning saves the planet … One day when Lily and her father go to the park a Thargon spaceship lands near to the sandpit where they are playing. The Thargons say that they are going to destroy the earth but whilst all the other humans tremble with fear Lily is brave enough to question “Why?”. Her persistent questioning makes the aliens rethink and they return to their own planet without causing any harm. Lily’s dad is very proud of his daughter and promises that he will never get cross when she asks “Why?” ever again. AGE 3-7Camp and Ross have the knack of making stories like real life, but much funnier

This is an amusing story which will appeal to children, while at the same striking a chord with all adults.
