Working with Gun Dogs by Hunter Adair
Written by a countryman who has worked with dogs and studied their behaviour, this title explores the important issue of choosing the right dog. It deals with the question of management of the dog, including topics such as the physiology of the dog, encouraging the dog into water, the correct diet, and the identification of ailments and injuries.
Hunter Adair was born in Ayrshire in 1933 and was brought up on a farm where he began working with dogs at the age of seven. After studying at the West of Scotland Agricultural College in Ayr, he worked for the Milk Marketing Board in different capacities for over 30 years, and was also the editor of one of the company's farming magazines for a time. At present, the author is running the family farm at Hexham, Northumberland, and occasionally writes for local publications about farming, wildlife, shooting, gundogs and the countryside. During 2002, Hunter Adair won the runner-up NFU Country Person of the Year Award. He is the author of several country books for both adults and children.
