The author begins by looking at the different sources of flint that were exploited by prehistoric peoples, and explains why flint was such a widely used raw material. He then discusses how to recognise prehistoric worked flint and explores the different technologies that were used to work flint and make tools.

About Chris Butler

Chris Butler is a Member of the Institute of Field Archaeologists and a committee member of the Lithic Studies Society. He has directed numerous excavations and has analysed flintwork from many projects in South-East England. He is a part-time lecturer at the University of Sussex and teaches A-Level Archaeology.
