Marla Cwitowitz, a Los Angeles law professor and her lover Al Giraud, a private detective, can't help noticing the attractive couple in the Ritz bar. But what they are witnessing is the beginning of a nightmare. Within days the man, Steve Mallard, is in police custody, accused of murdering beautiful Laurie Martin. Steve Mallard's wife believes in him. And soon, so do Marla and Al, who take on the impossible task of proving that Steve is innocent. They don't realize that the Mallard case is part of a much more devious plot, and that by interfering, they have placed themselves in deadly danger.
