An impressive debut full of a rich tapestry of description and well-rounded, relatable characters. The thematic elements around nature, themes of good and bad and how love prevails make Ingenious stand out from the usual crop and really touch you in a deeper way. I loved everything about this book! Sci-Fi Fantasy mix with writing so good you are LIVING the words. I love how the author incorporates nature throughout this story. The lives the animals and insects lead, the feelings they have and how significant every creature is...down to the lowliest crane fly. There is just so much to this one I can't adequately express all the feelings and thoughts I have. This is definitely one you will WANT to read. I can't believe I'm left with that cliffhanger though and how excruciating it will be to have to wait for the next book.
