English for CCEA KS3 Year 10 has been written to support students and teachers as they work to meet the requirements of the Revised Curriculum for Northern Ireland, devised by CCEA. The aims and objectives of the Revised Curriculum have been adopted and endorsed. - The units of work provide a range of texts, tasks and activities which can challenge and extend the knowledge, understandings and skills of language learners. - Texts have been selected to include spoken, illustrated, moving image and multi-media materials, as well as the conventional printed text. - Students are encouraged to see the purposes and audiences for language, and the differences between the genre and form of texts. - Opportunities have been created to investigate how new technologies can act as a powerful medium for communication and a useful tool for creating new texts, presenting ideas and for carrying out research. Links are made throughout English for CCEA KS3 Year 8 with aspects of the Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities Framework which forms a central part of the Revised Curriculum.
