Margaret Mahy qualified as a librarian and has had various appointments in children's libraries. She still visits schools and libraries and is apt to don a green wig - she describes herself as "a bit of an exhibitionist". Her books have been published in many languages. She has won the Carnegie Medal twice - for THE HAUNTING and THE CHANGEOVER - and the New Zealand Esther Glenn Award five times. Selina Young is a widely published illustrator and, like Margaret Mahy, she lives in New Zealand.
