This work shows that it is entirely possible to have colourful borders without too much hard work. The secret lies in choosing the correct plants - plants that are well-behaved and easy to maintain. The main part of this book takes the form of an extensive Plant Directory which lists dozens of these, all recommended from the author's experience. For more adventurous gardeners the Borderline Directory includes plants that require a little more work but are still well worth considering, and the inclusion of a handy guide to interpreting those glowing plant descriptions at garden centres will enable readers to avoid bringing home the more difficult specimens.
