Recently divorced, bookseller Edmund Yearne is staying with his sister Xenia in her comfortable Kent farmhouse when he discovers an old diary and some letters in an antique chest. Fascinated by the writer, he becomes determined to track her down and return the papers. Xenia, meanwhile, suspects her husband Johnnie of casting his roving eye in the direction of Amelia Sailor, the local jeweller. But when Amelia turns out to be Edmund s mysterious diarist, all romantic tangles are smoothed out to everyone s satisfaction.
