This is a guide to the workings of Parliament which also looks at wider issues such as Parliament's role in the EEC, possible reforms etc. It is written by two authors, both of whom work in the Houses of Parliament and is intended to be a readable guide, designed for those wishing to make a serious study of politics and for the general reader. Paul Silk is Clerk to the Energy Committee at the House of Commons and Rhodri Walters is Private Secretary to the Government Chief Whip and Leader of the House of Lords. Both have held various posts in the service of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
