About Rowena Visagie

ROWENA VISAGIE, RD, BSc Med Nutrition and Dietetics, is a registered dietitian at Shelly Meltzer & Associates based at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa in Newlands, Cape Town. She completed an honours degree in Sports Science at the University of Stellenbosch and an honours degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at UCT. She also has an IOC diploma in Sports Nutrition. Her current work in private practice includes consulting with individuals and teams of all sports and levels. She was also previously an elite triathlete competing at an international level, and more recently a social runner and mountain biker, but has put her sporting career on hold to be a mother.
KARLIEN DUVENAGE, RD, BSc, is a registered dietitian and head of the Gauteng Branch of Shelly Meltzer & Associates. She has extensive sports nutrition experience, having worked with both recreational and elite athletes in many sporting codes, and has also been involved in various corporate and wellness programmes. She is a popular speaker to a wide variety of groups such as athletes, coaches, and the public, and regularly writes for magazines and newspapers.
SHELLY MELTZER, RD, MSc Med Nutrition and Dietetics, is a registered dietician and head of the Dietary Practice at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. She has close to 30 years' experience and has consulted with many national and international athletes across a spectrum of sports from recreational to Olympic level. Shelly is a part-time lecturer and research supervisor for post-graduate students in the Department of Human Biology at the University of Cape Town, and is a Faculty member of the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy & Sports Sciences Centre, in Chennai India. She has authored and co-authored books, chapters, and academic papers, and has developed online nutrition courses.
