Pathologists often struggle in this area due to the numerous different and sometimes overlapping entities encompassed by term “ILD”. ILD pathology is unique in that diagnostic accuracy always requires correlation with the clinical and particularly the radiologic findings. This is different from most areas of pathology in which only minimal clinical\/radiologic information will allow an accurate diagnosis. By including CT findings, pathologists will know what to look for in radiology reports or when talking with radiologists.   A further recent development has been the increasingly widespread use of transbronchial cryobiopsy for diagnosing interstitial lung disease. What is becoming evident, however, is that there is astonishingly little in the way of pathologic guidance for making diagnoses with cryobiopsies, and pathologists struggle with them. Advances in understanding the genetics of ILD have led to realization that there are major overlaps in the genetic abnormalities associated with a UIP pattern, even if the underlying disease is fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis or connective tissue disease. A new idea is that of telomeropathy; i.e. the finding that patients with short telomeres are particularly likely to develop fibrotic lung disease, and, most importantly, should not be treated with immunosuppressive agents.   Atlas of Interstitial Lung Disease: Pathology with High Resolution CT Correlations, 3rd Edition, is primarily directed toward non-expert pathologists who encounter interstitial lung disease specimens, as well as radiologists who want some understanding of the pathologic basis for the imaging findings. The book incorporates current clinical\/radiological\/pathologic guidelines and provides information on how to apply them to biopsy specimens.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51717828772113,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":51717829427473,"sku":"NGR9783031859663","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031859669.jpg?v=1770372199"},{"product_id":"tumors-of-the-serosal-membranes-book-andrew-churg-9781881041979","title":"Tumors of the Serosal Membranes","description":"The pathologist who sees specimens from lesions of the serosal membranes (pleura, pericardium, peritoneum, and tunica vaginalis) is well aware that these cases, whether in the form of fluid cytologies, small biopsies, or major resections, pose differential diagnostic problems that are among the most difficult in anatomic pathology. The main problems involve the separation of malignant mesothelioma from benign mesothelial processes on the one hand and other malignant tumours (particularly primary and metastatic carcinomas) on the other.  With these differential diagnoses in mind, the authors concentrate on the cytopathologic and histopathologic features of diffuse malignant mesothelioma, its many variants, and the other benign and malignant lesions to be distinguished from it. Histochemical, immunohistochemical, ultrastructural and molecular features of potential use in this differentiation are discussed and illustrated. Common differential diagnostic problems and their solutions take precedence, but all of the known benign and malignant lesions of serosal membranes are covered, with copious illustrations and the latest available references. Epidemiologic, pathogenetic, clinical, radiographic and gross pathologic features are integrated with the discussions of these entities. This will be the most complete source available on this topic for years to come.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53403379040529,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":53403379564817,"sku":"CIN1881041972G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781881041979.jpg?v=1776135785"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-andrew-churg.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
