He destroyed the intuition that any move towards free trade was welfare-enhancing, for the country itself or for the world, or for both. He introduced us memorably to the notion of trade di- verting -- and here, he meant not diversion in the old and approving sense of en- tertainment but in the modern and castigating sense ofdistorting - Free Trade Ar- eas (FTAs) and Customs Unions (CUs). In other words, in the economists'jargon, discriminatory approaches to freeing trade were not monotonically welfare-im- proving. The legal scholars of GAT and trade law, chiefly the giants Robert Hudec, John Jackson and Kenneth Dam in the United States, were quick to follow suit. Their classic writings on Article XIV ofthe GAT, which provides an exception to the MFN obligation for contracting parties provided they go all the way and cre- ate FTAs and CUs which are supposed to reduce internal trade barriers fully rath- er than settle for a lesser preferential arrangement, are still a pleasure to read. They are in the best tradition of a creative interaction between the economic and the le- gal disciplines. Indeed, today, as my own work with Robert Hudec, resulting in a major two-volume publication by MIT Press underlines, that interaction has be- come yet more profound.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49516722946321,"sku":"GOR010649090","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49567755370769,"sku":"GOR003418639","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50368974127377,"sku":"CIN0966081706VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50374657245457,"sku":"CIN0966081706G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ WELL_READ \/ SBYB","offer_id":53516195266833,"sku":"CIN0966081706A","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0966081706.jpg?v=1750851785"},{"product_id":"confused-photographer-s-guide-book-bahman-farzad-9780966081718","title":"Confused Photographer's Guide","description":"Die Mikrogravitationsumgebung ist eine hervorragende Plattform f r Forschung, Anwendung und Ausbildung. Es ist eine Umgebung, in der Schwerelosigkeit vorausgesetzt wird. Alle Experimente, die unter 1G durchgef hrt werden, k nnen unter Mikrogravitation wiederholt werden, wenn sie verf gbar sind, ebenso k nnen neue Experimente formuliert werden, um die unter 1G erzielten Ergebnisse mit der Mikrogravitation zu vergleichen. Weltraumtaugliche Experimente in der Mikrogravitation sind ungew hnlich und teuer, was die Zahl der Forscher in diesem Bereich einschr nkt. Auf der Erde stehen Plattformen zur Verf gung, die im freien Fall, in Ballons, Sondierungsraketen usw. Schwerelosigkeit erfahren; diese Plattformen reagieren schnell, w hrend einige Experimente nur langsam auf die Mikrogravitation reagieren. Dies f hrte zur Entwicklung mehrerer alternativer bodengest tzter Ger te zur Simulation der Mikrogravitation bzw. der Aufhebung der Schwerkraft. Clinostat ist eines dieser Ger te. In diesem Buch werden die m glichen Proben und die experimentellen Variablen f r den 2D-Klinostat beschrieben. Au erdem werden die Vorteile der Mikrogravitationsforschung im Hinblick auf ihre Anwendung in der Ausbildung und in den Biowissenschaften (Landwirtschaft, Pharmazie, Mikrobiologie, Medizin und Biotechnologie) am Beispiel des Klinostats aufgezeigt.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49538699788561,"sku":"GOR005625854","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49559714496785,"sku":"GOR005237596","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49759395381521,"sku":"CIN0966081714G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":51325207281937,"sku":"CIN0966081714VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0966081714.jpg?v=1751425239"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-bahman-farzad.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
