Combining elements of Romanticism and psychological realism, Turgenev meticulously crafts a narrative that delves into the lives of the aristocracy residing in a rural estate. Through introspection and keen observation, he unravels the intricacies of social hierarchy, while exploring the complexities of love and relationships within this privileged class. The novel serves as a poignant cultural critique, presenting a vivid portrayal of character development amidst the backdrop of the Russian gentry. Themes of disillusionment pervade the narrative, as characters grapple with the conflict between tradition and modernity, symbolized by the changing landscape of society. Turgenev employs symbolism adeptly, weaving it seamlessly into the fabric of the story to convey deeper meanings and emotions. Overall, A House of Gentlefolk stands as a timeless masterpiece, offering readers a profound insight into the human condition and the dynamics of a bygone era. Through its rich tapestry of themes and characters, it continues to resonate with audiences, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of Russian literature.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49598001643793,"sku":"GOR007095446","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50368362447121,"sku":"CIN0805026940G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":52421650317585,"sku":"CIN0805026940VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0805026940.jpg?v=1750703046"},{"product_id":"time-and-tide-in-acadia-book-christopher-camuto-9780881509120","title":"Time and Tide in Acadia","description":"Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park have been described as the climax of the coast of Maine. Millions are drawn every year to the stunning beauty of this rocky landscape of spruce-fir forest and granite islands. Some, like nature writer Christopher Camuto, never stop coming back. In Time and Tide in Acadia the author draws on years of walking Mount Desert’s summits and shorelines, canoeing its marshes, kayaking its tidal waters, and visiting its outer islands. To this task Camuto brings an appetite for observing wildlife and landscape with considerable originality, a regard for history and indigenous perceptions of nature, a keen interest in exploring the psychological and philosophical appeal of nature, and a writer’s love of language. As in his previous, highly praised books, Camuto fulfills his promise to give the reader innumerable vantages on the nature of a remarkable place that it takes time to get to know.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49938015224081,"sku":"CIN0881509124G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":52448066306321,"sku":"CIN0881509124VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53438757404945,"sku":"GOR014920858","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0881509124.jpg?v=1777542030"},{"product_id":"hunting-from-home-book-christopher-camuto-9780393049152","title":"Hunting from Home","description":"A vivid rendering of the four seasons on a Shenandoah Valley farm and in the Virginia mountains. Christopher Camuto has been praised for writing \"with the clear-sightedness and imaginative reachboth inward and outwardof a poet\" (Verlyn Klinkenborg). In Hunting from Home, Camuto takes the reader through a year of intense experiences: hunting grouse with his setter through snowbound forests in winter; wading trout streams in spring; closely observing birds and wildlife through summer; exploring the backcountry, cutting wood, and hunting deer in autumn. He takes seriouslyand joyously Thoreau's injunction to practice \"the discipline of looking always at what is to be seen.\" Camuto writes incisively about the hunter's paradoxical love of the game he pursues; but he also hunts in the broadest sense possible, searching out and witnessing the life of the things he lovesbrook trout and black bear, hawks and warblerswith the hope of sharing the pleasures and preoccupations of a \"border life\" lived, with deep satisfaction, in the shadow of the Blue Ridge. 4 b\/w illustrations.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49950594007313,"sku":"CIN0393049159VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50178239463697,"sku":"CIN0393049159G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ WELL_READ \/ SBYB","offer_id":50248826552593,"sku":"CIN0393049159A","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0393049159.jpg?v=1751260177"},{"product_id":"fly-fisherman-s-blue-ridge-book-christopher-camuto-9780820323046","title":"A Fly Fisherman's Blue Ridge","description":"This new edition of A Fly Fisherman's Blue Ridge offers readers a chance to revisit a contemporary classic of fly fishing literature, a book that takes the reader through a year of fly fishing backcountry mountain streams from Pennsylvania to Georgia. He was born in 1580 in England, and at sixteen, after his father's death, Smith set off for a life at sea. He fought under various flags and found himself knighted by the Prince of Transylvania, but later captured and sold as a slave. He would escape and return to England by 1604. Two years later he was on an expedition set to colonize the New World under the Virginia Company of London. The journey took over four months before they first landed in Virginia. In that time, Smith was charged with mutiny and nearly executed. They would later settle in Jamestown, which was disastrous because of the swampy region, disease, insufficient food, and generous malnutrition. Smith spent a great deal of time navigating for food what is now known as the Chesapeake Bay area, and developed detailed maps as a result. It 1609 as a result of a injury he returned to England for medical treatment. In 1614 he sailed for the United States again, but to what is now known as New England, creating a map of the region that replaced the Native American place names with those suggested by Charles I. In 1615, on a second attempt to return, he was briefly captured by French pirates, escaped and then remained in England until his passing in 1631. His life continues to be a source of great scholarly controversy, particularly around his relationship to Pocahontas. This seminal lecture by Charles Poindexter illustrates some of these points of contention.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50057648603409,"sku":"CIN0820326836G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ WELL_READ \/ SBYB","offer_id":50371164012817,"sku":"CIN0820326836A","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50492392177937,"sku":"CIN0820326836VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0820326836.jpg?v=1750914666"},{"product_id":"time-and-tide-in-acadia-book-christopher-camuto-9780393060676","title":"Time and Tide in Acadia","description":"In the enchanting city of Zagreb, adorned with the magic of Christmas, Luka's life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Adam, a mysterious visitor with a captivating smile and secrets hidden like snowflakes.
