Mull, Scotland's third largest isle, and for bard Dugold MacPhail 'Of Isles the Fairest', has something for everyone. Those with interests in archaeology, geology and history will be captivated; naturalists will be fascinated by its flora and fauna; but its universal magic is tranquillity, while affording you all the joys of walking in the great outdoors. Across the narrow Sound of Mull, lies Morvern with Ardgour and Ardnamurchan. Here the enchantment continues to develop. At its farthest reaches, approached by a narrow road meandering through the finest scenery, is the most westerly part of the British mainland, Ardnamurchan Point. The allure of Mull, Morvern, Ardnamurchan and Ardgour is outstanding, and once you have seen them, you will want to visit Scotland's far west time after time.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49527335518481,"sku":"GOR005321330","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50171600371985,"sku":"GOR013879977","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50817829798161,"sku":"GOR006917272","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ WELL_READ \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51076058087697,"sku":"GOR010123102","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1852844078.jpg?v=1750964186"},{"product_id":"alternative-coast-to-coast-book-denis-brook-9781852842024","title":"The Alternative Coast to Coast","description":"The ACC begins on one island and finishes on another. It starts on the west coast at the Beachcomber Cafe on Walney Island near Barrow-in-Furness. After crossing the Irish Sea (tides permitting), the walk skirts the edge of Barrow, and on into the Lake District. Several Lakeland peaks are climbed, several delightful Lakeland villages are visited and the full length of Ullswater is walked. Between Penrith and Hexham, the route crosses the Northern Pennines. Hadrian's Wall is then negotiated before crossing Northumberland with its Cheviot Hills and wilderness areas. The ACC finishes in a grand style by crossing the North Sea (again tides permitting) and finally arrives at ancient Holy Island, or Lindisfarne as it was once known, on the east coast. From Barrow, it is about 309km to the majestic ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, founded in the seventh century. The walk seeks out places of interest where an extra day can be spent on local exploration instead of forging ahead. It does not always seek the high hills, but crosses moors, follows rivers and dales and goes through forests. It visits places of literary and historical interest.  The route is arranged in stages so that, as far as is possible (but not always), the length of each stage is a good day's walk and it finishes at a place where accommodation can be found or is not far away. For those who enjoy circular routes, there are suggested Return Routes on ten of the stages.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49540325966097,"sku":"GOR003702056","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49643117412625,"sku":"GOR000987241","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1852842024.jpg?v=1751426265"},{"product_id":"north-to-the-cape-book-denis-brook-9781852842857","title":"North to the Cape","description":"A guide to Scotland's 200-mile, 326km backpacking trekking route through the West Highlands from Fort William to Cape Wrath, for the experienced walker. This is a glorious long-distance walk. Described as a quintessential backpacking walk it is a challenging route for the experienced walker. The authors had six main criteria in mind: a variety of scenery, no long hauls over featureless terrain, use of designated paths, interesting geography, no high peaks to climb and a good day's walk every day with accommodation at the end. The route is split into 21 stages, many with an easier bad-weather alternative. The guide includes full information, including details of accommodation and advice on where to purchase provisions as you go along.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49584988094737,"sku":"GOR002025418","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49628792717585,"sku":"GOR004219969","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50955776164113,"sku":"GOR010733170","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ WELL_READ \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52394341597457,"sku":"GOR006306038","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1852842857.jpg?v=1751378742"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-denis-brook.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
