W nschten sich die Kinder und Jugendlichen von der Hitlerjugend vor allem Abenteuer, Kameradschaft, Sport und Spiel, sahen die Ziele der Nationalsozialisten anders aus. Schon sehr fr h verdeutlichten sie: das Ziel eines m nnlichen Kindes war der Soldat, das Ziel der M dchen war die umsorgende Mutter. Der einzelne Jugendliche galt nichts,  ber allem stand das Land und die Fahne. So kam es, dass die Organisationen der Hitlerjugend neben dem Elternhaus und der Schule zur dritten S ule in der Erziehung wurde und bald schon den Einfluss der anderen S ulen  berstieg. Der junge Deutsche trat mit zehn Jahren in die Hitlerjugend ein, die Jungen in das Deutsche Jungvolk (DJ), die M dchen in die Jungm del. Mit vierzehn Jahren traten die Jungen in die HJ, die M dchen in den Bund deutscher M dchen (BDM) ein. Mit 18 Jahren folgten Arbeitsdienst und die Wehrmacht. Die M dchen wurden an die Zwischenorganisation Glaube und Sch nheit weitergereicht, bis sie dann mit 21 Jahren in die NS-Frauenschaft eintraten. Zu Beginn des Dritten Reiches war die Hitlerjugend noch ein freiwilliger Bund, der sp ter eine Zwangsorganisation wurde, der sich niemand mehr entziehen konnte. Zum Schluss wartete der Kriegseinsatz, dem viele Hitlerjungen und BDM-M dchen zum Opfer fielen.
