Der Erste des Namens Brockhaus, von dessen Leben etwas bekannt ist, war Adolf Heinrich Brockhaus, Pastor zu St.-Thom  in Soest, geboren in Altena (einer kleinen Stadt im westf lischen Sauerlande, nahe bei L denscheid), 1699 ordinirt und 25 Jahre lang, bis 1724, in seinem Amte wirkend. Im Kirchenbuche wird gesagt, da  er ein sehr t chtiger, flei iger, ehrsamer, von Allen geliebter Pastor war und an seiner Beerdigung die ganze Gemeinde theilnahm.
