This survey, from Europe to South America, and Japan to the US, takes in many familiar designers including Robinson, Jekyll, Jensen, Farrand, Sessions, Mawson, Church, Sorenson and Jellicoe. The book traces the revolutionary post-war period - the Harvard rebels, Eckbo, Rose and Kily; Noguchi, Burle Marx and Barragan - and the powerful influence of the Scandinavian landscape designers. The garden city is given close attention, from late Victorian Britain, through the Greenbelt Towns in the American Midwest, to the latest regeneration of urban centres worldwide. Notable artists and architects also feature here: Monet, Le Corbusier, Mondrian, Wright, Mies van der Rohe and Gaudi among others. Land artists have brought landscape and the garden into the 21st century and include Robert Smithson and Kathryn Gustafson in the US, and Richard Long, Andy Goldsworthy and Ian Hamilton Finlay in the UK.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49641776382225,"sku":"GOR004232097","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49777770660113,"sku":"GOR001710583","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50248478523665,"sku":"GOR010806485","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0500511128.jpg?v=1751431119"},{"product_id":"cedric-morris-book-janet-waymark-9781912892204","title":"Cedric Morris","description":"Cedric Morris (1889-1982) was an accomplished painter of flowers and landscapes, and a plantsman whose irises are an enduring legacy. This is a timely study of a man whose stock has risen appreciably in recent years, with two London exhibitions, a stand at the Chelsea Flower Show and a surge in prices for his paintings.      With his lifelong partner, Arthur Lett-Haines, Cedric Morris set up the East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing in Suffolk, where students included the young Lucian Freud and Maggi Hambling.     Drawing on archive material and extensively illustrated with the work of Morris as well as artists who became part of his circle, this book explores Morris's family roots in South Wales, follows his travels in Europe and beyond in the 1920s, and evokes the singular camaraderie of the East Anglian School.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49740423856401,"sku":"NGR9781912892204","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50933147074833,"sku":"GOR010917774","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52689528586513,"sku":"NLS9781912892204","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53069088424209,"sku":"GOR014726250","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53079936958737,"sku":"GOR012164486","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1912892200.jpg?v=1751315594"},{"product_id":"thomas-mawson-book-janet-waymark-9780711225954","title":"Thomas Mawson","description":"Thomas Haytor Mawson (1881-1933) began designing gardens in the 1890s. He forged his distinctive style - solid formality round the house with foreground terraces and balustrades - in the Lake District, where his genius allowed the garden to open out into the landscape. From humble beginnings he was soon the most sought-after garden and landscape designer of the day. He could name crowned heads of Europe as his clients and friends, as well as self-made industrialists such as Lord Leverhulme and Andrew Carnegie. In 1908 he was chosen to design the Peace Gardens at The Hague.        Mawson, who was a great teacher and advocate for landscape architecture as a profession, published five editions of The Art and Craft of Garden Making between 1900 and 1926. His Civic Art, reflecting his great interest in the design of towns and public parks, came out in 1911.        This is the first full biography of this energetic and prolific landscape architect. It is full of new material and images collected from Mawson's relatives as well as from public and private sources. The author took her camera throughout the United Kingdom and Europe and travelled across Canada to discover the full story of Thomas Mawson's life and work.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50140761063697,"sku":"GOR005295891","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0711225958.jpg?v=1751263289"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-janet-waymark.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
