The expanded topics include: parametric stability, logarithms of s- plecticmatrices, normalformsforHamiltonianmatrices, spacialDelaunay- ements, pulsating coordinates, Lyapunov-Chetaev stability applications and more. There is a new section on the Maslov index and a new chapter on variational arguments as applied to the celebrated ?gure-eight orbit of the 3-body problem. Still the beginning chapters can serve as a ?rst graduate level course on Hamiltonian dynamical systems, but there is far too much material for a s- gle course. Instructors will have to select chapters to meet their interests and the needs of their class. It will also serve as a reference text and introduction to the literature. The authors wish to thank their wives and families for giving them the time to work on this project. These lecture notes are an introduction to the theory of periodic solutions of such Hamiltonian systems. From a generic point of view the N-body problem is highly degenerate. It is invariant under the symmetry group of Euclidean motions and admits linear momentum, angular momentum and energy as integrals. Therefore, the integrals and symmetries must be confronted head on, which leads to the definition of the reduced space where all the known integrals and symmetries have been eliminated. It is on the reduced space that one can hope for a nonsingular Jacobian without imposing extra symmetries. These lecture notes are intended for graduate students and researchers in mathematics or celestial mechanics with some knowledge of the theory of ODE or dynamical system theory. The first six chapters develops the theory of Hamiltonian systems, symplectic transformations and coordinates, periodic solutions and their multipliers, symplectic scaling, the reduced space etc. The remaining six chapters contain theorems which establish the existence of periodic solutions of the N-body problem on the reduced space.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52134977569041,"sku":"NLS9783540666301","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783540666301.jpg?v=1757546337"},{"product_id":"computer-aided-proofs-in-analysis-book-kenneth-r-meyer-9781461390947","title":"Computer Aided Proofs in Analysis","description":"This IMA Volume in Mathematics and its Applications COMPUTER AIDED PROFS IN ANALYSIS is based on the proceedings of an IMA Participating Institutions (PI) Conference held at the University of Cincinnati in April 1989. Each year the 19 Participating Institutions select, through a competitive process, several conferences proposals from the PIs, for partial funding. This conference brought together leading figures in a number of fields who were interested in finding exact answers to problems in analysis through computer methods. We thank Kenneth Meyer and Dieter Schmidt for organizing the meeting and editing the proceedings. A vner Friedman Willard Miller, Jr. PREFACE Since the dawn of the computer revolution the vast majority of scientific compu- tation has dealt with finding approximate solutions of equations. However, during this time there has been a small cadre seeking precise solutions of equations and rigorous proofs of mathematical results. For example, number theory and combina- torics have a long history of computer-assisted proofs; such methods are now well established in these fields. In analysis the use of computers to obtain exact results has been fragmented into several schools.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52622575272209,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52622575829265,"sku":"NLS9781461390947","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781461390947.jpg?v=1785935436"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-kenneth-r-meyer.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
