'Cure Bereft' is a story of how a man inclined to do good, faces obstacles set by men too thirsty for power and gain. It tells a tale of how too often, a lust for power hinders a will to better the world. It blends unique science fiction ideas with stable thriller elements to create a breakneck-paced high octane thriller.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50333286367505,"sku":"CIN0963863703G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":51327578669329,"sku":"CIN0963863703VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0963863703.jpg?v=1751396824"},{"product_id":"saving-lives-while-fighting-for-mine-book-martha-king-9781734770940","title":"Saving Lives While Fighting For Mine","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50388957659409,"sku":"CIN1734770945G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1734770945.jpg?v=1750722869"},{"product_id":"exegetical-summary-of-colossians-2nd-edition-book-martha-king-9781556712036","title":"An Exegetical Summary of Colossians, 2nd Edition","description":"Each volume in the Exegetical Summaries series works through the original text phrase by phrase. English equivalents are provided for all Hebrew and Greek words, making this an excellent reference for exegetes of all levels. Questions that occur to exegetes as they study the text are stated and then answered by summarizing the ways many scholars have interpreted the text. This information should help translators or students in making their own exegetical decisions. As a basis for discussion, a semi-literal translation of the text is given. The first question to be answered is the meaning of key words in context. Information from standard lexicons is given and then translations of the word are cited from a dozen major Bible versions and from commentaries that offer their own translations of the text. Questions about the grammar and discourse structure of the original languages are answered by summarizing the views of many commentators. When exegetical disagreements appear in the commentaries and versions, the various interpretations are listed. This book is not intended to replace the commentaries that are consulted. Rather than being a stand-alone commentary, this book summarizes many important details of exegesis that should be considered in studying the biblical text. Martha King worked with SIL in Guatemala from 1967-1992, first as a Bible translator in a Cakchiquel language, later as a supervisor of mother-tongue translators in two other Cakchiquel languages. She has also served as a translation consultant. Since her marriage to SIL International Translation Consultant Ellis Deibler in 2004, she and her husband have traveled to various countries checking translations of books of the Bible in a number of languages.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51036991684881,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51036994109713,"sku":"NIN9781556712036","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52580833132817,"sku":"NLS9781556712036","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1556712030.jpg?v=1751055439"},{"product_id":"grazia-deledda-book-martha-king-9781904744672","title":"Grazia Deledda","description":"This is a timely and extensive biography of a writer who, in the early twentieth century, achieved such status in the literary world that publishers in Italy vied for her novels, and editors felt honoured to publish her short stories and 'sketches'. Now, almost seventy years after her death, her novels continue to be reprinted and translated, and critical appreciation of her work continues to grow. Her works still live and have the power to move her readers.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51294052253969,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51294054383889,"sku":"NIN9781904744672","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1904744672.jpg?v=1751250339"},{"product_id":"her-husband-book-martha-king-9780822326007","title":"Her Husband","description":"One of the twentieth century’s greatest literary artists and winner of the Nobel prize in 1934, Luigi Pirandello wrote the novel Her Husband in 1911, before he produced any of the well-known plays with which his name is most often associated today. Her Husband—translated here for the first time into English—is a profoundly entertaining work, by turns funny, bitingly satirical, and tinged with anguish. As important as any of the other works in Pirandello’s oeuvre, it portrays the complexities of male\/female relations in the context of a newly emerging, small but vocal Italian feminist movement. Evoking in vivid detail the literary world in Rome at the turn of the century, Her Husband tells the story of Silvia Roncella, a talented young female writer, and her husband Giustino Boggiolo. The novel opens with their arrival in Rome after having left their provincial southern Italian hometown following the success of Silvia’s first novel, the rather humorously titled House of Dwarves. As his wife’s self-appointed (and self-important) promoter, protector, counselor, and manager, Giustino becomes the primary target of Pirandello’s satire. But the couple’s relationship—and their dual career—is also complicated by a lively supporting cast of characters, including literary bohemians with avant-garde pretensions and would-be aristocratic esthetes who are all too aware of the newly acquired power of journalists and the publishing establishment to make or break their careers. Having based many of the characters—including Silvia and Giustino—on actual literary acquaintances of his, Pirandello reacted to the novel’s controversial reception by not allowing it to be reprinted after the first printing sold out. Not until after his death were copies again made available in Italy. Readers will find Her Husband eerily evocative of the present in myriad ways—not the least of which is contemporary society’s ongoing transformation wrought by the changing roles of men and women, wives and husbands.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51393854800145,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51393855160593,"sku":"GOR012705897","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0822326000.jpg?v=1763483443"},{"product_id":"max-sees-red-book-martha-king-9781949966060","title":"Max Sees Red","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52666138624273,"sku":"NLS9781949966060","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52778800414993,"sku":"NIN9781949966060","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781949966060.jpg?v=1762279167"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-martha-king.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
