The title, From Radical Marxism to Knowledge Socialism, reflects this historical approach. In the 1960s and 1970s, Marxism was considered to be a radical, extreme ‘political’ theory, while western liberalism and a free-market economy were largely taken for granted as natural phenomena, in western philosophy of education and in the journal. More recently, educational theorists have begun to explore trends related to the neoliberal age. Paradoxically, such trends include the move toward knowledge socialism, which decenters the normative presuppositions of knowledge capitalism as the latest iteration of western liberalism.   The volume begins with an introductory chapter that examines the history of Marxism in western philosophy and philosophy of education. The rest of the book features works selected from the journal that further illustrate the evolution of Marxist theoretical perspectives in the field over time. This collection thus gives a sense of the range and extent of Marxist-inspired thinking in educational philosophy and theory.   This book will be of interest to students and scholars of educational philosophy and theory and others who are interested in exploring in depth the evolution of key themes in this field over time, including liberalism, ideology, Marxism, neoliberalism, knowledge construction, capitalist and socialist schooling, and other aspects of economic analysis in education.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51095407984913,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51095411228945,"sku":"NIN9781032106434","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52427277402385,"sku":"NLS9781032106434","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1032106433.jpg?v=1750919387"},{"product_id":"encyclopedia-of-teacher-education-book-michael-a-peters-9789811686788","title":"Encyclopedia of Teacher Education","description":"This encyclopaedia is a dynamic and living reference that student teachers, teacher educators, researchers and professionals in the field of education with an accent on all aspects of teacher education, including: teaching practice; initial teacher education; teacher induction; teacher development; professional learning; teacher education policies; quality assurance; professional knowledge, standards and organisations; teacher ethics; and research on teacher education, among other issues. It is based on a series of articles written by the authors in Educational Philosophy and Theory, Open Review of Educational Research and Knowledge Cultures to explore the concept of collective writing. This tenth volume in the Editor's Choice series provides insights into the philosophy of academic writing and peer review, peer production, collective intelligence, knowledge socialism, openness, open science and intellectual commons. This collection represents the development of the philosophy, methodology and philosophy of collective writing developed in the last few years by members of the Editors’ Collective (EC), who also edit, review and contribute to Educational Philosophy and Theory (EPAT), as well as to PESA Agora, edited by Tina Besley, and Access, edited by Nina Hood, two PESA ‘journals’ recently developed by EC members. This book develops the philosophy, methodology and pedagogy of collective writing as a new mode of academic writing as an alternative to the normal academic article. The philosophy of collective writing draws on a new mode of academic publishing that emphasises the metaphysics of peer production and open review along with the main characteristics of openness, collaboration, co-creation and co-social innovation, peer review and collegiality that have become a praxis for the self-reflection emphasising the subjectivity of writing, sometimes called self-writing. This collection, under the EPAT series Editor’s Choice, draws on a group of members of the Editors’ Collective,who constitute a network of editors, reviewers and authors who established the organisation to further the aims of innovation in academic writing and publishing. It provides discussion and examples of the philosophy, methodology and pedagogy of collective writing. Split into three sections: Introduction, Openness and Projects, this volume offers an introduction to the philosophy and methodology of collective writing. It will be of interest to scholars in philosophy of education and those interested in the process of collective writing.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51274458693905,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51274460987665,"sku":"NIN9780367775803","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52521355673873,"sku":"NLS9780367775803","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0367775808.jpg?v=1751292338"},{"product_id":"far-right-education-and-violence-book-michael-a-peters-9780367562021","title":"The Far-Right, Education and Violence","description":"In the last decade the far-right, associated with white nationalism, identitarian politics, and nativist ideologies, has established itself as a major political force in the West, making substantial electoral gains across Europe, the USA, and Latin America, and coalescing with the populist movements of Trump, Brexit, and Boris Johnson’s 2019 election in the UK. This political shift represents a major new political force in the West that has rolled back the liberal internationalism that developed after WWI and shaped world institutions, globalization, and neoliberalism. It has also impacted upon the democracies of the West. Its historical origins date from the rise of fascism in Italy, Germany, and Austria from the 1920s. In broad philosophical terms, the movement can be conceived as a reaction against the rationalism and individualism of liberal democratic societies, and a political revolt based on the philosophies of Nietzsche, Darwin, and Bergson that purportedly embraced irrationalism, subjectivism, and vitalism. This edited collection of essays by Michael A Peters and Tina Besley, taken from the journal Educational Philosophy and Theory, provides a philosophical discussion of the rise of the far-right and uses it as a canvas to understand the return of fascism, white supremacism, acts of terrorism, and related events, including the refugee crisis, the rise of authoritarian populism, the crisis of international education, and Trump’s ‘end of globalism’.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51296720814353,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51296723763473,"sku":"NIN9780367562021","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52152034394385,"sku":"NLS9780367562021","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0367562022.jpg?v=1751259839"},{"product_id":"educational-philosophy-and-post-apocalyptical-survival-book-michael-a-peters-9781032592664","title":"Educational Philosophy and Post-Apocalyptical Survival","description":"This collection concerns educational philosophy and post-apocalyptical survival. It addresses an important need in a collection that will be of value for teachers, teacher educators, policymakers and politicians. There has been little sustained, long-term or systematic research to provide empirical support for the broad aspects of teacher education policy, largely because such research has been chronically underfunded and based on traditional practitioner knowledge. Many of the changes to teacher education are contentious and yet are occurring in rapid succession. These policies and movements have important consequences for education, teacher quality and the future of the teaching profession. At the same time, the policies and initiatives that support these changes seem to be based more on ideology, business interests and tradition than on research and empirical findings. The nature, quality and effectiveness of teacher preparation have increasingly become a central focus for education policy worldwide in a fiercely argued debate among governments, think-tanks, world policy agencies, education researchers and teacher organisations.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52130636988689,"sku":"NLS9789811040733","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789811040733.jpg?v=1757504153"},{"product_id":"companion-to-wittgenstein-on-education-book-michael-a-peters-9789811031342","title":"A Companion to Wittgenstein on Education","description":"This book, bringing together contributions by forty-five authors from fourteen countries, represents mostly new material from both emerging and seasoned scholars in the field of philosophy of education.  Topics range widely both within and across the four parts of the book: Wittgenstein’s biography and style as an educator and philosopher, illustrating the pedagogical dimensions of his early and late philosophy; Wittgenstein’s thought and methods in relation to other philosophers such as Cavell, Dewey, Foucault, Hegel and the Buddha; contrasting investigations of training in relation to initiation into forms of life, emotions, mathematics and the arts (dance, poetry, film, and drama), including questions from theory of mind (nativism vs. initiation into social practices), neuroscience, primate studies, constructivism and relativity; and the role of Wittgenstein’s philosophy in religious studies and moral philosophy, as well as their profound impact on his ownlife.    This collection explores Wittgenstein not so much as a philosopher who provides a method for teaching or analyzing educational concepts but rather as one who approaches philosophical questions from a pedagogical point of view.  Wittgenstein’s philosophy is essentially pedagogical: he provides pictures, drawings, analogies, similes, jokes, equations, dialogues with himself, questions and wrong answers, experiments and so on, as a means of shifting our thinking, or of helping us escape the pictures that hold us captive.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52136750416145,"sku":"NLS9789811031342","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789811031342.jpg?v=1757554849"},{"product_id":"wittgenstein-education-and-the-problem-of-rationality-book-michael-a-peters-9789811599743","title":"Wittgenstein, Education and the Problem of Rationality","description":"This book develops an argument for a historicist and non-foundationalist notion of rationality based on an interpretation of Wittgenstein of the Philosophical Investigations and On Certainty. Based on theories of bioinformationalism, viral modernity, the postdigital condition, and others, this book explores two inter-related questions: Which new knowledge ecologies are emerging? Which philosophies and research approaches do they require?    The book argues that the 20th century focus on machinery needs to be replaced, at least partially, by a focus on a better understanding of living systems and their interactions with technology at all scales – from viruses, through to human beings, to the Earth’s ecosystem. This change of direction cannot be made by a simple relocation of focus and\/or funding from one discipline to another. In our age of the Anthropocene, (human and planetary) biology cannot be thought of without (digital) technology and society. Today’s curious bioinformational mix of blurred and messy relationships betweenphysics and biology, old and new media, humanism and posthumanism, knowledge capitalism and bio-informational capitalism defines the postdigital condition and creates new knowledge ecologies.    The book presents scholarly research defining new knowledge ecologies built upon emerging forms of scientific communication, big data deluge, and opacity of algorithmic operations. Many of these developments can be approached using the concept of viral modernity, which applies to viral technologies, codes and ecosystems in information, publishing, education, and emerging knowledge (journal) systems. It is within these overlapping theories and contexts, that this book explores new bioinformational philosophies and postdigital knowledge ecologies.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52150650110225,"sku":"NLS9783030950057","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783030950057.jpg?v=1757610790"},{"product_id":"wittgenstein-education-and-the-problem-of-rationality-book-michael-a-peters-9789811599712","title":"Wittgenstein, Education and the Problem of Rationality","description":"This book develops an argument for a historicist and non-foundationalist notion of rationality based on an interpretation of Wittgenstein of the Philosophical Investigations and On Certainty. This book aims to understand the philosophical motivation behind this view, to examine its intellectual underpinnings and to substitute this universal conception of rationality by reference to a Hegelian interpretation of the later Wittgenstein that emphasizes his status as an anti-foundational thinker.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52332176965905,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52332177588497,"sku":"NLS9789811599712","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789811599712.jpg?v=1758150780"},{"product_id":"far-right-education-and-violence-book-michael-a-peters-9780367562014","title":"The Far-Right, Education and Violence","description":"This book of essays provide a philosophical discussion of the rise of the far-right and use it as a canvas to understand the return of fascism, white supremacism, acts of terrorism and related events including the refugee crisis, the rise of authoritarian populism, the crisis of international education and Trumps end of globalism.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52333568262417,"sku":"NLS9780367562014","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":53081533677841,"sku":"NIN9780367562014","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780367562014.jpg?v=1758155183"},{"product_id":"from-radical-marxism-to-knowledge-socialism-book-michael-a-peters-9781032106472","title":"From Radical Marxism to Knowledge Socialism","description":"This volume examines the place of Marxist theory in the history of the journal Educational Philosophy and Theory, primarily through the selection and exploration of typical and significant articles exploring Marxist-related themes in the journal over time. The title, From Radical Marxism to Knowledge Socialism, reflects this historical approach. In the 1960s and 1970s, Marxism was considered to be a radical, extreme ‘political’ theory, while western liberalism and a free-market economy were largely taken for granted as natural phenomena, in western philosophy of education and in the journal. More recently, educational theorists have begun to explore trends related to the neoliberal age. Paradoxically, such trends include the move toward knowledge socialism, which decenters the normative presuppositions of knowledge capitalism as the latest iteration of western liberalism.   The volume begins with an introductory chapter that examines the history of Marxism in western philosophy and philosophy of education. The rest of the book features works selected from the journal that further illustrate the evolution of Marxist theoretical perspectives in the field over time. This collection thus gives a sense of the range and extent of Marxist-inspired thinking in educational philosophy and theory.   This book will be of interest to students and scholars of educational philosophy and theory and others who are interested in exploring in depth the evolution of key themes in this field over time, including liberalism, ideology, Marxism, neoliberalism, knowledge construction, capitalist and socialist schooling, and other aspects of economic analysis in education.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52334576632081,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52334577221905,"sku":"NLS9781032106472","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781032106472.jpg?v=1758157297"},{"product_id":"chinese-dream-educating-the-future-book-michael-a-peters-9780367349844","title":"The Chinese Dream: Educating the Future","description":"This edited collection is based on a series of articles written by Michael A Peters as Editor-in-Chief of Educational Philosophy and Theory to explore the concept of The Chinese Dream first introduced by President Xi in 2012. In the last twenty years, the applications of the postmodern and poststructuralist perspectives have become less mono-focused, less narrowly concerned with technical questions and also less interested in epistemology, and more interested in ethics.   This book covers questions of genealogy, ontology, the body and the institution, giving examples of theoretical applications of post-structural theory that testify to the generative and endlessly applicable potential of this work to different fields and avenues of thought. While informed by Foucault’s thinking of the political subjugation of docile bodies to individuals as self-determining beings, the chapters in this book culminate in amalgamations of different schools of educational philosophy, which explore poststructuralist approaches to education.   Beyond the Philosophy of the Subject will be key reading for academics, researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of philosophy of education, philosophy, education, educational theory, post-structural theory, the policy and politics of education, and the pedagogy of education.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52434440257809,"sku":"NLS9781138915923","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781138915923.jpg?v=1759180607"},{"product_id":"poststructuralism-marxism-and-neoliberalism-book-michael-a-peters-9780742509870","title":"Poststructuralism, Marxism, and Neoliberalism","description":"This introduction to the politics of poststructuralism focuses on two interrelated themes: the culture of Western Marxism and contemporary neoliberal capitalism. Poststructuralism is not a form of anti-Marxism, Peters argues; indeed, poststructural philosophers view themselves in some kind of relationship to the legacy of Marx. Either they have been Marxist or still view themselves as Marxist. In a post-Marxist era they have invented new ways of reading and writing Marx. Peters critically engages neoliberalism, an ideology that is committed to the revitalization of homo economicus and neoclassical economics. This book is a deconstruction of neoliberalism, considered as a world-historical political project aimed at a form of globalisation.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52450855387409,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52450855878929,"sku":"NLS9780742509870","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780742509870.jpg?v=1779961467"},{"product_id":"futures-of-critical-theory-book-michael-a-peters-9780742528604","title":"Futures of Critical Theory","description":"Written by internationally acclaimed scholars on futures of critical theory, this book attempts to renew and reinvigorate critical theory by extending its range and its intellectual trajectories through strategies of inclusiveness that respect and build on parallel traditions. Wittgenstein fundamentally shaped contemporary theories of language, representation, cognition, and learning. The book also traces the pedagogical turn of his thinking during the period from 1920 to 1926. What is most radical about Wittgenstein's later work is that it suggests learning and initiation into practices are fundamental to understanding his philosophy. This collection explores Wittgenstein not so much as a philosopher who provides a method for teaching or analyzing educational concepts but rather as one who approaches philosophical questions from a pedagogical point of view.  Wittgenstein’s philosophy is essentially pedagogical: he provides pictures, drawings, analogies, similes, jokes, equations, dialogues with himself, questions and wrong answers, experiments and so on, as a means of shifting our thinking, or of helping us escape the pictures that hold us captive.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52534926278929,"sku":"NLS9789811098000","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789811098000.jpg?v=1760669836"},{"product_id":"moral-education-and-the-ethics-of-self-cultivation-book-michael-a-peters-9789811380266","title":"Moral Education and the Ethics of Self-Cultivation","description":"Educational philosophies of self-cultivation as the cultural foundation and philosophical ethos for education have strong and historically effective traditions stretching back to antiquity in the classical 'cradle' civilizations of China and East Asia, India and Pakistan, Greece and Anatolia, focused on the cultural traditions in Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism in the East and Hellenistic philosophy in the West. The book brings together authors working in Australia, China, Croatia, Romania, Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden, UK and USA.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52599880745233,"sku":"NLS9789811340413","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789811340413.jpg?v=1761087584"},{"product_id":"in-search-of-subjectivities-book-michael-a-peters-9781138915947","title":"In Search of Subjectivities","description":"While traditionally identified as a practice-based endeavour, the many dimensions of teacher education raise important philosophical issues that emphasise the centrality of ethics to questions of relationality and professional practice. This second volume of the Educational Philosophy and Theory reader series demonstrates the continuing relevance of philosophical approaches to the field of teacher education.   The collection of texts focuses on a wide range of topics, including teacher education in a cross-cultural context, the notion of unsuccessful teaching, democratic teacher education, the reflective teacher, the ethics and politics of teacher identity, and subjectivity and performance in teaching. Chapters also explore teacher education based on experiential learning as ‘experience’, demonstrating the continuing relevance of philosophical approaches to the field.  In Search of Subjectivities will interest academics, researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of philosophy of education, philosophy, education, educational theory, teacher education, experiential philosophy, ethics, policy and politics of education, and professional practice.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52616469545233,"sku":"NLS9781138915947","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781138915947.jpg?v=1761527354"},{"product_id":"education-globalization-and-the-state-in-the-age-of-terrorism-book-michael-a-peters-9781594510724","title":"Education, Globalization and the State in the Age of Terrorism","description":"Timely look at how education plays a key role in people's understanding of nationalism, patriotism, and terrorism.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52618298949905,"sku":"NLS9781594510724","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781594510724.jpg?v=1761532749"},{"product_id":"companion-to-research-in-teacher-education-book-michael-a-peters-9789811350412","title":"A Companion to Research in Teacher Education","description":"This state-of-the-art Companion assembles and assesses the extant research available on teacher education and provides clear guidelines on future directions. It addresses an important need in a collection that will be of value for teachers, teacher educators, policymakers and politicians. There has been little sustained, long-term or systematic research to provide empirical support for the broad aspects of teacher education policy, largely because such research has been chronically underfunded and based on traditional practitioner knowledge. Many of the changes to teacher education are contentious and yet are occurring in rapid succession. These policies and movements have important consequences for education, teacher quality and the future of the teaching profession. At the same time, the policies and initiatives that support these changes seem to be based more on ideology, business interests and tradition than on research and empirical findings. The nature, quality and effectiveness of teacher preparation have increasingly become a central focus for education policy worldwide in a fiercely argued debate among governments, think-tanks, world policy agencies, education researchers and teacher organisations.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52654916075793,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52654916469009,"sku":"NLS9789811350412","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789811350412.jpg?v=1762218136"},{"product_id":"postdigital-education-for-development-book-michael-a-peters-9783031992469","title":"Postdigital Education for Development","description":"This edited volume unpacks the profound deterritorializing and reterritorializing shifts taking place across the globalized, networked educational landscape, interjecting into pervasive, predominant education development (EdDev) discourses. Highlighting the transdisciplinarity of postdigital studies, this book engages with core facets of contemporary educational development, such as educational geopolitics, policy discourses, global funding institutions, cooperative developmental initiatives, national imaginaries of educational development, the university, stakeholder collectives, and pedagogical and curricular frameworks. It provides a comprehensive understanding of current EdDev discourse and practice, its failings, and how technology-driven disruptions can open up avenues for alternative reimaginings of educational futures. The research presented foregrounds a conceptualization of inclusive postdigital educational ecosystems that catalyze educational futures built around human-centered technological advancements in support of sustainable bio-digital planetary development. This book is suited for educators and researchers of educational development and policy.   Postdigital Education for Development is complemented by The Geopolitics of Postdigital Educational Development, also edited by Michael A. Peters, Ben Green, Olivera Kamenarac, Petar Jandrić, and Tina Besley.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52658887655697,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52658888474897,"sku":"NLS9783031992469","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783031992469.jpg?v=1762261716"},{"product_id":"showing-and-doing-book-michael-a-peters-9781594514494","title":"Showing and Doing","description":"Three prominent Wittgenstein scholars introduce the broad educational significance of Ludwig Wittgenstein's work to a wider audience of educational researchers and practitioners through provocative, innovative, and playful readings of his work. They vividly demonstrate the influence of his thinking and its centrality to understanding our contemporary condition. Wittgenstein fundamentally shaped contemporary theories of language, representation, cognition, and learning. The book also traces the pedagogical turn of his thinking during the period from 1920 to 1926. What is most radical about Wittgenstein's later work is that it suggests learning and initiation into practices are fundamental to understanding his philosophy. The book not only provides a new and fresh interpretation of Wittgenstein's thought but also explores a new way of thinking about education as a way of revealing the educational dimension of philosophical problems.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52667272495377,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52667273249041,"sku":"NLS9781594514494","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781594514494.jpg?v=1762282134"},{"product_id":"dilemma-of-western-philosophy-book-michael-a-peters-9781138080614","title":"The Dilemma of Western Philosophy","description":"This collection looks at the various limitations and achievements of Western philosophy, with particular reference to the issue of education. The concept of 'subjectivity' in the Western tradition has focused on the figure of the autonomous, self-conscious, and rooted individual. This book develops a conception of the subject that is nomadic and fluid rather than grounded and complete. Written from a perspective that takes account of globalisation - and the pressures that it places upon individuals and communities - this book draws upon Nietzsche and the post-modern thinkers that followed him. Arguing that a modern conception of the subject must be one based on cultural exchanges and transformations, this book is sure to provide new insights for anyone concerned with or interested in the identity of the individual now and in the future.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52677897355537,"sku":"NLS9781594519031","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781594519031.jpg?v=1762306904"},{"product_id":"contesting-governing-ideologies-book-michael-a-peters-9781138096387","title":"Contesting Governing Ideologies","description":"Contesting Governing Ideologies is the third volume in the Educational Philosophy and Theory: Editor's Choice series and represents a collection of texts that provide a cutting-edge analysis of the philosophy and theory of performances of neoliberal ideology in education.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52680384872721,"sku":"NLS9781138096387","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781138096387.jpg?v=1762312995"},{"product_id":"organization-and-newness-book-michael-a-peters-9789004394810","title":"Organization and Newness","description":"Organization and Newness: Discourses and Ecologies of Innovation in the Creative University offers a view from a perspective of organizational education on the ‘new’, which analyzes the production of the ‘new’ within organizations, in relation to the inherent learning processes. Fundamental for this perspective is the question about the changeability of organizations, especially when these are not viewed only as instrumentally established regulatory structures but rather as social constructs. The contributions of this volume contour the complexity of newness in organization and form a bridge from critical analysis of imperative discourse of newness, to programmatic pleas of an organizational pedagogy, which is normative in nature, for a reconfiguration of organizational and societal relationships. The issue at hand shows how tightly the question about newness is constitutively woven into the self-conception of organizational education and pedagogy.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52680774353169,"sku":"NLS9789004394810","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ WELL_READ \/ SBYB","offer_id":52817362419985,"sku":"CIN9004394818A","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789004394810.jpg?v=1768559841"},{"product_id":"organization-and-newness-book-michael-a-peters-9789004394803","title":"Organization and Newness","description":"Organization and Newness: Discourses and Ecologies of Innovation in the Creative University offers a view from a perspective of organizational education on the 'new', which analyzes the production of the 'new' within organizations, in relation to the inherent learning processes.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52681455698193,"sku":"NLS9789004394803","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789004394803.jpg?v=1768558302"},{"product_id":"education-and-technological-unemployment-book-michael-a-peters-9789811362279","title":"Education and Technological Unemployment","description":"This book examines the challenge of accelerating automation, and argues that countering and adapting to this challenge requires new methodological, philosophical, scientific, sociological, economic, ethical, and political perspectives that fundamentally rethink the categories of work and education. What is required is political will and social vision to respond to the question: What is the role of education in a digital age characterized by potential mass technological unemployment?  Today’s technologies are beginning to cost more jobs than they create – and this trend will continue. There have been many proposed solutions to this problem, and they invariably involve an educational vision. Yet, in a world that simply doesn’t offer enough work for everyone, education is clearly not a panacea for technological unemployment.   This collection presents responses to this question from a wide spectrum of disciplines, including but not limited to education studies, philosophy,history, politics, sociology, psychology, and economics.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52684565479697,"sku":"NLS9789811362279","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9789811362279.jpg?v=1762323321"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-michael-a-peters.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
