Exploring the mystifying link between sacred and erotic love, Romer identifies the source of art itself, a place of creation and refuge, the yellow studio of the title poem. It is the lighted room of childhood, a vulnerable private place the adult tries to recreate. Formal acts of remembrance are attempts to identify what lies ahead as much as to preserve the shadows. Here Romer, with innocence and urbanity, takes stock of past and future.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49559574741265,"sku":"GOR002103492","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ WELL_READ \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52110929232145,"sku":"GOR014459852","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53027026665745,"sku":"GOR002538633","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1903039851.jpg?v=1751123662"},{"product_id":"idols-book-stephen-romer-9780192819840","title":"Idols","description":"This is Stephen Romer's first collection of poems.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49579007738129,"sku":"GOR004748625","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0192819844.jpg?v=1751450363"},{"product_id":"tribute-book-stephen-romer-9780192881045","title":"Tribute","description":"Stephen Romer is unlike any other contemporary poet: the 'Tribute' paid in his long-awaited third collection is divided between homage and exaction. The homage is voluntary and finds several recipients, the exaction only one. Much turns on the question of idealization, experienced as emotional necessity in the face of love, that 'terrible crystallization'. Writing on Romer's earlier work, Thom Gunn remarked on the 'wide range of interests which open up the imagination to mythologies of the mind'. This new book constitutes a powerful amplification of those mythologies. This book is intended for poetry readers, students.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49590043705617,"sku":"GOR002453939","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50503004553489,"sku":"GOR013975464","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0192881043.jpg?v=1751163979"},{"product_id":"robert-herrick-book-stephen-romer-9780571236800","title":"Robert Herrick","description":"In this series, a contemporary poet selects and introduces a poet of the past. By their choice of poems and by the personal and critical reactions they express in their prefaces, the editors offer insights into their own work as well as providing an accessible and passionate introduction to some of the greatest poets of our literature. Robert Herrick was born in London, in 1591, the seventh child of a prosperous goldsmith. He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge in 1617, and became a Cavalier poet in the mould of Ben Jonson, mixing in literary circles in London. He was ordained in 1623 and subsequently appointed by Charles I to the living of Dean Prior in Devon, where he lived in the reluctant seclusion of country life and wrote some of his best work. In 1647, under the Commonwealth, Herrick was expelled from the priory and returned to London, where he published his major work, Hesperides, the following year. With the restoration of Charles II in 1660 he was returned to Devon and died a bachelor in 1674.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49593688162577,"sku":"GOR002646454","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49910534832401,"sku":"CIN0571236804G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":50141993795857,"sku":"NGR9780571236800","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0571236804.jpg?v=1758967407"},{"product_id":"set-thy-love-in-order-book-stephen-romer-9781784103767","title":"Set Thy Love in Order","description":"In Set Thy Love in Order Stephen Romer's poetry is as pressing and urgent as ever. The emphasis is on poems rather than poets and is accompanied by an introduction which signals and describes the movements and contours of the literary map.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49616399728913,"sku":"GOR001812283","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50237912121617,"sku":"GOR007134298","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ WELL_READ \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53077192999185,"sku":"GOR002094877","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0571196837.jpg?v=1750742109"},{"product_id":"french-decadent-tales-book-stephen-romer-9780199569274","title":"French Decadent Tales","description":"This newly translated selection of 36 of the best decadent tales from the French fin-de-siecle brings together some the most exotic, stylized, and cerebral literature in the French language.
