This book brings forth and examines the evidence as it reveals itself through one of the major institutions of our time: the work organisation. Corporations and organisations for work are major centers of social activity. In many senses they provide a critical source of identity for their members, just as do families and religions.The examination of corporations and organisations gives access to most of the dynamics operating within our society and reveals some of the deeper assumptions upon which our lives are based. To call them simply a reflection of human social organisation and proclivity, perhaps is to underrate the importance of themselves shaping today's psyche. To look at the formation of perverse practice, structure and culture within organisations is also to look at that development in society more broadly. The book first examines the nature of perversity and its presence in corporate and organisational life. Then, four chapters examine the 'corporate sins' of perverse pride, greed, envy and sloth, each taking case studies from major organisations suffering their effects. Finally, the book enquires into the nature of the consumer\/provider pair as a centerpiece of the perverse cultural dynamics of current organisational life.The emphasis in the book is on perversity displayed by the organisation as such, rather than simply by its leaders, or other members, even though they may embody and manifest perverse primary symptoms to the extent that they at times engage in corrupt or criminal behaviours. What is explored is a group and organisation dynamic, more deeply embedded than conscious corruption. Within the perverese structure some roles become required to take up corrupt positions. They become part and parcel of the way things work. The person may condemn certain practices, but the role requires them. Tensions between person and role may mean that the person in role acts as they would not while in other roles. Such tensions may lead to the dynamics of perversity.This book is important reading for managers, consultants, and all who are interested in the dynamics propelling what seem to be the out-of-control dynamics within contemporary organisational life. It helps us understand how many people in positions of trust may end up abusing those positions. It looks at how we may be collectively perverse despite our individual attempts to be otherwise.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49707950997777,"sku":"GOR008216921","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50894782300433,"sku":"GOR011323734","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52481424064785,"sku":"NLS9781855755765","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52755451216145,"sku":"NIN9781855755765","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53430027354385,"sku":"GOR011862953","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1855755769.jpg?v=1750930878"},{"product_id":"coaching-in-depth-book-susan-long-9781855753280","title":"Coaching in Depth","description":"Coaching In Depth introduces the reader to the management consultancy technique of Organizational Role Analysis (ORA); a technique with the immensely practical purpose of helping managers to stay \"in role and on task\". Even though the beginnings of socioanalytic investigation lay in the mid-twentieth century, a broad look across several methodologies has not been done before, despite separate publications dealing with particular methods. In addition, several new methods have been developed in recent years, which the present work incorporates.Connecting all these methods is their aim of 'tapping into' the dynamic operation of what the author calls 'the associative unconscious' within and between social systems. The associative unconscious is the unconscious at a systemic level. Each of the methods discussed in this book accesses the associative unconscious in different ways. They help bring hidden dynamics to the surface for people to see how they influence, aid, or inhibit their activities. Written by an experienced lecturer, this book expands on the basic facts to present a clear and comprehensive overview of genetics and reproductive physiology in veterinary nursing. It covers the needs of the curriculum, addressing a range of subjects from genetic material through to breeding and the physiological aspects of reproduction in different species. The author writes in a clear, user-friendly style making this book accessible to students with no prior knowledge of the subject. However, the level of depth and coverage makes it equally relevant and useful to the more advanced degree level student. Core theory is looked at from a practical perspective as the author demonstrates how a deeper understanding of the principles of genetics aids the practicalities of animal breeding. Careful structure and layout help the reader to navigate the text, with important information highlighted in boxes. Bullet points are used to summarise key points. Useful appendices include information on the genetics behind coat colour, miscellaneous genetic abnormalities found in various species and questions and answers for self-testing. \"Veterinary Genetics and Reproductive Physiology\" is an essential text for any veterinary nursing student studying on the S\/NVQ, Degree or Diploma course as well as an excellent resource for any person with an interest in animal breeding","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50263528210705,"sku":"GOR002357374","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":53069321208081,"sku":"CIN0750688777G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/B01LQAXRB6.jpg?v=1750881340"},{"product_id":"beginning-go-book-peter-shotwell-9784805309551","title":"Beginning Go","description":"The must-have resource guidebook for those looking to learn the ancient Asian game of Go  Beginning Go is a clear, concise and thorough introduction to the intricacies of Go that is perfect for first time players. The TEF explores how people can take authentic action through taking up roles.  The model is initially presented together with an understanding of the nature of unconscious dynamics and their disturbing and creative potentials. The various chapters explore situations, dilemmas and case studies in organisations through expanding on different aspects of the Framework. The chapters of this book are written almost exclusively by men and women who have worked for the Grubb Institute, now named the Grubb Guild, some of them for 50 years and others as graduates or Faculty of the Grubb Institute's Master's Programme in Organisational Analysis and Leadership.  Writers include or have been influenced by Bruce Reed, Barry Palmer, David Armstrong, Jean Reed, Bruce Irvine, Vega Roberts, Susan Long, Rebekah O'Rouke and John Bazalgette. The present manifestation of the Grubb thinking is through the Grubb School of Organisational Analysis: http:\/\/www.grubbschool.org.uk. Susan Long edits the book in her role as a Faculty Member in the Grubb School of Organisational Analysis.The intention of bringing this collection together is to demonstrate how the model can be used in organisational analysis, research and consulting. The framework has been gradually developed over many years with evolving versions being tried and tested in organisational research and consulting but has not been comprehensively described previously. The framework is in constant evolution and should be regarded as a living model, responsive to new ways of thinking and to changes in organisational experiences and contexts.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50401069859089,"sku":"CIN1782203486G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50593151713553,"sku":"GOR007747710","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":50697728753937,"sku":"NGR9781782203483","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51258582237457,"sku":"NIN9781782203483","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52476365242641,"sku":"NLS9781782203483","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53096707653905,"sku":"GOR013280601","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1782203486.jpg?v=1751441699"},{"product_id":"grit-success-stories-of-millionaires-in-our-neighbourhood-book-susan-long-9789814024266","title":"Grit Success: Stories Of Millionaires In Our Neighbourhood","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50466206581009,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50466208874769,"sku":"CIN9814024260G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9814024260.jpg?v=1751352236"},{"product_id":"towards-a-socioanalysis-of-money-finance-and-capitalism-book-susan-long-9780415710602","title":"Towards a Socioanalysis of Money, Finance and Capitalism","description":"The current global financial crisis has raised awareness of the impact the world of finance has on the economy and the future of democracy. Following the crisis, this book aims at a deep understanding of the human psycho-social dynamics beneath the surface of the financial industry, its markets and institutions. It seeks to understand why the seemingly rational world of economic behavior, with its calculated models and predictions, at times goes horribly wrong.  This book uses the discipline of socio-analysis to explore the meaning of money, markets and the broad financial world that so strongly affects our daily lives. Socio-analysis contributes to an awareness and understanding of underlying unconscious desires, fantasies and illusions that bring about the irrational inflation of faith and trust in the world of money, finance and capital(ism). The insight that the financial crisis ‘was essentially psychological in origin’ (Robert Shiller) and that the world of finance is broadly shaped if not determined by irrational often unconscious factors is not yet broadly shared. This book appears to be one of the first, if not the first contribution that explicitly focuses on what is beneath the surface of money, finance and capital. It invites the reader to explore the financial world in depth.   The aim of this book is to provide businesses, organizational consultants, students, researchers and interested persons more broadly with a detailed exploration of the psycho-social dynamics of the financial industry as it exists currently within the capitalist system. The contributors to this book come from Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, The Netherlands, UK, and USA.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50894782267665,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50894782791953,"sku":"GOR014110414","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/041571060X.jpg?v=1750910445"},{"product_id":"evolution-of-the-unconscious-book-susan-long-9781032907918","title":"The Evolution of the Unconscious","description":"Drawing on over four decades of professional and academic experience, Susan Long explores how the concept of the unconscious has evolved from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century, showing that it is more than an individual phenomenon, but also a group, organisational and institutional phenomena. Broad sweeping and accessible, this book is a valuable resource for organisational psychologists, consultants, and managers exploring psychoanalytic and socioanalytic approaches, as well as those in academic settings wanting to pursue an interest in the unconscious.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52684412354833,"sku":"NLS9781032907925","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":53656559747345,"sku":"NIN9781032907925","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781032907925.jpg?v=1762322970"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-susan-long.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
