Science-savvy readers may find some of Burge's arguments dubious: To reconcile the seven-day Genesis account of creation with evolution, for example, he proposes a seven-stage account based on an arbitrary application of the evidence. He uses the same selective thinking in stating that the \"existence of the church today is the firmest evidence for the Resurrection,\" which as a scientific or historical argument falls short. Despite these criticisms, Burge does succeed in presenting a modern approach to biblical interpretation to the general reader. As such, his work may find an audience among those Christians open to the idea of an evolving biblical revelation.
