The union appears too heterogeneous and the economic and political interests of the 28 Member States too diverse to be able to address these challenges as a whole. Does the concept of differentiated integration offer a possible solution? Can such differentiation offer the European integration project a better and more stable future? Which measures of diversity and flexibility can the “ever closer Union among the peoples of Europe” endure? Or will such differentiation ultimately damage the joint European project? This collection of leading European lawyers tackles these questions and suggests how they might be addressed.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49732937416977,"sku":"NGR9781509914784","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1509914781.jpg?v=1751274693"},{"product_id":"flexibility-in-the-eu-and-beyond-book-thomas-giegerich-9783848734368","title":"Flexibility in the EU and Beyond","description":"The EU is going through a difficult phase: The euro and refugee crises are still unresolved, the solidarity between Member States is eroding, the UK stands on the brink of an exit, nationalist forces are gaining increasing support in many Member States, the support for European integration is diminishing and EU foreign policy is focused on combating crises. The union appears too heterogeneous and the economic and political interests of the 28 Member States too diverse to be able to tackle these challenges as a whole. Does the concept of differentiated integration offer a possible solution? Can such differentiation offer the European integration project a better and more stable future? Which measures of diversity and flexibility can the \"ever closer Union among the peoples of Europe\" endure? Or will such differentiation ultimately damage the joint European project? These questions and others were the focus of an international and interdisciplinary conference at the European Academy of Otzenhausen in April 2016 that was organized by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Giegerich. The results of this conference are contained in this volume.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49736450998545,"sku":"NGR9783848734368","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3848734362.jpg?v=1750871110"},{"product_id":"einwanderungsrecht-national-und-international-book-thomas-giegerich-9783810031815","title":"Einwanderungsrecht — national und international","description":"Zuwanderung und Integration - Eckpfeiler f r Deutschland im 21. Auch deshalb begegnen viele dem Thema Zuwanderung noch mit Unsicherheit.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52332316786961,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52332317376785,"sku":"NLS9783810031815","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783810031815.jpg?v=1758151239"},{"product_id":"european-union-as-protector-and-promoter-of-equality-book-thomas-giegerich-9783030437664","title":"The European Union as Protector and Promoter of Equality","description":"This book considers the European Union as a project with a major antidiscrimination goal, which is important to remember at a time of increasing resentment against particularly exposed groups, especially migrants, refugees, members of ethnic or religious minorities and LGBTI persons. While equality and non-discrimination have long been core principles of the international community as a whole, as is made obvious by the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, they have shaped European integration in a particular way. The concepts of diversity, pluralism and equality have always been inherent in that process, the EU being virtually founded on the values of equality and non-discrimination. The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU contains the most modern and extensive catalogue of prohibited grounds of discrimination, supplementing the catalogue enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights. EU law has given new impulses to antidiscrimination law both within Europe and beyond. The contributions to this book focus on how effective and credible the EU has been in combatting discrimination inside and outside Europe. The authors present different (mostly legal) aspects of that topic and examine them from various intra- and extra-European angles.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52483167420689,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52483168338193,"sku":"NLS9783030437664","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783030437664.jpg?v=1759854318"},{"product_id":"european-union-as-protector-and-promoter-of-equality-book-thomas-giegerich-9783030437633","title":"The European Union as Protector and Promoter of Equality","description":"This book considers the European Union as a project with a major antidiscrimination goal, which is important to remember at a time of increasing resentment against particularly exposed groups, especially migrants, refugees, members of ethnic or religious minorities and LGBTI persons.
