Though the threat of direct Axis invasion never materialized beyond the Egyptian Western Desert with Rommel's Afrika Korps, this did not limit the Axis from probing the Middle East and cultivating potential collaborators and sympathizers. These actions left an indelible mark in the socio-political evolution of the modern states of the Middle East. This book explores the infusion of the political language of anti-Semitism, nationalism, fascism, and Marxism that were among the ideological byproducts of Axis and Allied intervention in the Arab world. The status of British-dominated Middle East was tailor-made for exploitation by Axis intelligence and propaganda.  German and Italian intelligence efforts fueled anti-British resentments; their influence shaped the course of Arab nationalist sentiments throughout the Middle East. A relevant parallel to the pan-Arab cause was Hitler's attempt to bring ethnic Germans into the fold of a greater German state. In theory, as the Sudeten German stood on par with the Carpathian German, so too, according to doctrinal theory, did the Yemeni stand in union with the Syrian in the imagination of those espousing pan-Arabism. As historic evidence demonstrates, this very commonality proved to be a major factor in the development of relations between Arab and Fascist leaders. The Arab nationalist movement amounted to nothing more than a shapeless, fragmented, counter position to British imperialism, imported to the Arab East via Berlin for Nazi aspirations.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50007424106769,"sku":"CIN1612513093G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ WELL_READ \/ SBYB","offer_id":51382098624785,"sku":"CIN1612513093A","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52603497251089,"sku":"GOR014559321","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1612513093.jpg?v=1750992336"},{"product_id":"militant-islamist-ideology-book-youssef-aboul-enein-usn-9781591140702","title":"Militant Islamist Ideology","description":"In offering a comprehensive explanation of how militant Islamists have hijacked the Islamic religion, Aboul-Enein provides a realistic description of the militant threat, which is far different and distinct from Islamist political discourse and the wider religion of Islam. A key adviser at the Joint Intelligence Task Force for Combating Terrorism, he argues that winning the war against Militant Islamists requires a more complete understanding of their ideology. Clearly defining the differences between Islam, Islamist, and military Islamist, he highlights how militant Islamist ideology takes selected fragments of Islamic history and theology and weaves them into a narrow, pseudo-intellectual ideology to justify their violence against Muslims and non-Muslims alike.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50050679243025,"sku":"CIN1591140706VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52687029567761,"sku":"NLS9781591140702","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1591140706.jpg?v=1750719737"},{"product_id":"middle-east-101-book-youssef-aboul-enein-usn-9781682474273","title":"Middle East 101","description":"The work answers 101 essential questions on the Middle East Islam the Arab Spring al-Qaida and ISIS. It is for those wanting to begin an intellectual immersion into the complexities of the region from pre-biblical times to the post-Arab Spring that have impacted our lives today. The authors have focused on thinking carefully about what the deploying Soldier Sailor Marine or Airman needed to know BEFORE they arrive in the Middle East such as the nuances inherent in a region that is the crossroads of three continents (Europe Asia and Africa) and how previous global powers interacted and left their mark on the region. This guide while developed and written for America's men and women about to deploy to combat zones and areas of operation is also of use to a wider audience of Americans serious about the challenges of the region.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50580053098769,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50580055032081,"sku":"CIN1682474275VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1682474275.jpg?v=1751311044"},{"product_id":"militant-islamist-ideology-book-youssef-h-aboul-enein-9781591140016","title":"Militant Islamist Ideology","description":"This book proposes a common framework and definition of “Militant Islamist Ideology” to be considered by all ranks within the military. It seeks to define the differences between Islam, Islamist, and Militant Islamist, with the objective of disaggregating the immediate threat posed by Militant Islamist groups, and separating them from Islamists and Islam. Winning this long war against militant Islamist ideology will require a higher level of nuanced understanding that will enable military personnel to comprehend that militant Islamists operate with the friction of diverse Islamic practices, nationalism, and tribalism inherent in the human landscape of the region.   Without a realistic and sound doctrine-based definition of the threat we shall be stuck between two extremes in American national policy discourse, those who advocate all Islam is evil and those who advocate all Islam is peace. These extremes are not effective in deriving effective policy or addressing the nuances and perversion that Militant Islamist ideology has wrought upon Islam. We cannot afford to call this phenomenon Islamism or Islamo-fascism and somehow link this as the new fascism or communism. Militant Islamists alienate not only Allied forces but even Islamist political groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and HAMAS. It is time for a more nuanced definition of the threat.  About the Author CDR Aboul-Enein serves as a Senior Advisor and analyst at the Joint Intelligence Task Force for Combating Terrorism in the United States. He has advised at the highest levels of the Defense Department and Intelligence Community.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":50942971183377,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50942971445521,"sku":"GOR006801518","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":51694753775889,"sku":"CIN1591140013G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1591140013.jpg?v=1751023914"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/author-books-by-youssef-h-aboul-enein.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
