The general MVMP problem is thus formulated as a Mathematical Programming (Optimization) problem. This book presents a Mathematical Programming (MP) framework that captures the salient features of the general MVMP problem. To demonstrate the use of MP for the formulation and solution of MVMP problems, it examines in detail four representative works and summarizes several other related ones. Following this conceptual discussion, it provides a step-by-step demonstration of how to formulate, solve, and experimentally validate an MP problem that represents a MVMP. Finally, it discusses the advantages, technical challenges, and limitations of this framework. As solution algorithms and their implementations in solvers continue to develop, it is anticipated that MP solution techniques will be applied to an increasing number of MVMP problems. The framework, formulations, and experimental approach presented here may serve as a guide for future MVMP research","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51605322498321,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":51605322662161,"sku":"NGR9781601987228","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1601987226.jpg?v=1791027081"},{"product_id":"review-of-point-cloud-registration-algorithms-for-mobile-robotics-book-roland-siegwart-9781680830248","title":"A Review of Point Cloud Registration Algorithms for Mobile Robotics","description":"This monograph addresses the problem of geometric registration and the classical Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm. Though commonly used in several research fields, the focus here is on mobile robotics in which point clouds need to be registered. Even with this narrowed focus, the problem is still complex and multiple-faceted. A lot has been published on the topic, and, up until now, it has lacked a general comparison methodology. This is understandable given the diversity of applications, characteristics of the sensors, motion capabilities of the robotic platform and characteristics of the environments, but it hinders the selection process of an appropriate instance of the algorithm. This review tackles this challenge by three means: (1) a wide literature review with a historical perspective, (2) the elaboration of a theoretical descriptive framework of geometric registration grounded in the literature review, and (3) the analysis of practical use cases covering a wide diversity of mobile robotics applications. The end result provides the reader with a set of guidelines for the choice of geometric registration configuration.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51678396612881,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51678396776721,"sku":"NIN9781680830248","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1680830244.jpg?v=1786279235"},{"product_id":"semantics-for-robotic-mapping-perception-and-interaction-book-peter-corke-9781680837681","title":"Semantics for Robotic Mapping, Perception and Interaction","description":"For robots to navigate and interact more richly with the world around them, they will likely require a deeper understanding of the world in which they operate. In robotics and related research fields, the study of understanding is often referred to as semantics, which dictates what does the world 'mean' to a robot, and is strongly tied to the question of how to represent that meaning. With humans and robots increasingly operating in the same world, the prospects of human-robot interaction also bring semantics and ontology of natural language into the picture.Driven by need, as well as by enablers like increasing availability of training data and computational resources, semantics is a rapidly growing research area in robotics. The field has received significant attention in the research literature to date, but most reviews and surveys have focused on particular aspects of the topic: the technical research issues regarding its use in specific robotic topics like mapping or segmentation, or its relevance to one particular application domain like autonomous driving. A new treatment is therefore required, and is also timely because so much relevant research has occurred since many of the key surveys were published. This survey provides an overarching snapshot of where semantics in robotics stands today. We establish a taxonomy for semantics research in or relevant to robotics, split into four broad categories of activity in which semantics are extracted, used, or both. Within these broad categories, we survey dozens of major topics including fundamentals from the computer vision field and key robotics research areas utilizing semantics such as mapping, navigation and interaction with the world. The survey also covers key practical considerations, including enablers like increased data availability and improved computational hardware, and major application areas where semantics is or is likely to play a key role. In creating this survey, we hope to provide researchers across academia and industry with a comprehensive reference that helps facilitate future research in this exciting field.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51678402019601,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51678402281745,"sku":"NIN9781680837681","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1680837680.jpg?v=1790939372"},{"product_id":"roadmap-for-us-robotics-from-internet-to-robotics-2020-edition-book-seth-hutchinson-9781680838589","title":"A Roadmap for US Robotics - from Internet to Robotics 2020 Edition","description":"Presents a summary of challenges to deliver desired solutions and a presentation of efforts to be undertaken to ensure that US will continue to be a leader in robotics, both in terms of research innovation, adoption of the latest technology, and adoption of policy frameworks that ensure that the technology is utilized in a responsible fashion.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51678403526929,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51678403821841,"sku":"NIN9781680838589","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/168083858X.jpg?v=1751215135"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/foundations-and-trends-in-robotics-ser-book-series.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
