His students or students of his students filled many if not most of the major chairs in philosophy. A cloud of reputedly Black Forest mysticism veiled the perspective of many of his critics and admirers at home and abroad. Droves of people flocked to hear lectures by him that most could not understand, even on careful reading, much less on one hearing. He loomed so large that Being and Time frequently could not be seen as a highly imaginative, initial approach to a strictly limited set of questions, but was viewed either as an all-embracing fmt order catastrophy incorporating at once the most feared consequences of Boehme, Kierkegaard, RiIke, and Nietzsche, or as THE ANSWER. But most of that has past. Heidegger's dominance of Gennan philosophy has ceased. One can now brush aside the larger-than-life images of Heidegger, the fears that his language was creating a cult phenomenon, the convictions that only those can understand him who give their lives to his thought. His language is at times unusually difficult, at times simple and beautiful. Some of his insights are obscure and not helpful, others are exciting and clarifying. One no longer expects Heidegger to interpret literature like a literary critic or an academic philologist.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50000014737681,"sku":"CIN0333093429VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51538676875537,"sku":"GOR009271718","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52592844538129,"sku":"NLS9780333093429","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52734906761489,"sku":"NIN9780333093429","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0333093429.jpg?v=1751228383"},{"product_id":"letters-to-the-new-island-book-wb-yeats-9780333438787","title":"Letters to the New Island","description":"From 1888 to 1892 W.B.Yeats contributed a series of essays on literature and Irish folklore to two American newspapers, the Boston Pilot and Providence Sunday Journal. These important but little-known pieces show his intense engagement with current books, plays, personalities and controversies. They also make major statements about the issues of cultural nationalism and theatrical reform that preoccupied the poet. Newly edited, annotated, and introduced by George Bornstein and Hugh Witemeyer, Letters to the New Island offers a fresh glimpse of Yeats as an active polemicist, critic and all-round man of letters.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52124667478289,"sku":"NLS9780333438787","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52734928748817,"sku":"NIN9780333438787","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780333438787.jpg?v=1757458128"},{"product_id":"poems-book-wb-yeats-9780333556900","title":"The Poems","description":"This new edition of The Collected Poems of W.B.Yeats includes all of the poems authorised for publication by Yeats in his lifetime. From skilful retellings of ancient Irish myths and legends to passionate meditations on the demands and rewards of youth and old age, these exquisite, occasionally whimsical songs of love, nature and art stand in dramatic contrast to the sombre and angry poems of life in a nation torn by war and uprising. In the rich and recurrent imagery of the rose, the gyre and the tower the reader can trace Yeats's quest to unite intellect and artistry in a single compelling vision. Included in this edition are Yeats's notes complemented by explanatory notes from the esteemed Yeats scholar Richard J.Finneran.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52126047830289,"sku":"NLS9780333556900","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52734929273105,"sku":"NIN9780333556900","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780333556900.jpg?v=1757471469"},{"product_id":"collected-works-of-w-b-yeats-book-w-yeats-9780333563489","title":"The Collected Works of W.B. Yeats","description":"John Sherman is the only work of realistic fiction Yeats ever completed. The novelette contains many biographical elements and is of interest for its treatment of Yeats's recurring themes. It examines the debate between nationality and cosmopolitan and looks at the conflict between the self and the Anti-self. Dhoya depicts a liaison between a mortal and a fairy, a motif that recurs in Yeats's poetry and other works. The texts are supplemented by an introduction and detailed explanatory notes by the editor, Richard Finneran.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52138001465617,"sku":"NLS9780333563489","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780333563489.jpg?v=1757560292"},{"product_id":"prefaces-and-introductions-book-wb-yeats-9780333325605","title":"Prefaces and Introductions","description":"This volume in The Collected Edition of the Works of W.B.Yeats brings together for the first time thirty-two introductions written for anthologies that he edited or for books by other writers. The essays in this collection address many topics, including the turbulent early years of the Abbey Theatre, the controversies over the plays of John Millington Synge, and the relationship between drama and nationalism. Also evident are Yeats's criticisms on numerous plays, playwrights and productions, both Irish and English.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52734904041745,"sku":"NIN9780333325414","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9780333325414.jpg?v=1763398184"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.worldofbooks.com\/en-gb\/collections\/the-collected-works-of-wb-yeats-book-series.oembed","provider":"World of Books ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
