Babar's Counting Book by Laurent De Brunhoff

Seventeen years after its original publication, this book continues to be a fun and colorful way to show young readers that numbers are all around them. One morning, Pom, Flora, and Alexander decide to take a walk and count everything they see. With the help of their friend Zephir the monkey, the children count two balloons in the sky, five alligators chasing six ostriches, and nine camels! When they have counted up to ten, the children show Babar what they have learned, and Babar in turn teaches them to count to twenty.
Laurent de Brunhoff has been illustrating the Babar books since 1946, after his father, Jean de Brunhoff, illustrated the first titles a decade before. Since that time, he has created more than 30 books about the world-renowned elephant and his family. He and his wife, writer Phyllis Rose, reside in Connecticut.
