Suffolk boasts by far the greatest number of Domesday churches than any other county surveyed by William the Conqueror in 1086. Over the centuries, many of these buildings have been added to and altered, whilst others have sadly disappeared either completely or partially from the landscape. After having travelled the world during her twenty-year career in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Sarah could no longer resist the strong pull back to East Anglia to which she returned in 2010. She now works as a freelance local history researcher, writer and speaker. She has written a number of books and articles on the local history of Suffolk and East Anglia.
