
Maggi and Henrietta by Maggi Hambling
Henrietta Moraes was a muse, writer and considered a Queen of Bohemia. In last years of her tempestuous life, Henrietta was painted by Maggi, and this book has much to say about the relationship between artist and model. A series of charcoal drawings that capture the essence of their friendship.
Maggi Hambling's exhibitions include: National Gallery (1981), National Portrait Gallery (1983), Serpentine Gallery (1987) and Yale Center for British Arts (1991). In 1995, she won the Jerwood Painting Prize and in 1998 her monument to Oscar Wilde was unveiled at Adelaide Street facing Charing Cross Station. Public collections in this country include the Arts Council, British Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Tate Gallery and V & A.
