In 1872 Darwin published his seminal treatise The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals which intersected with the dawn of photography. While the study of physiognomy has limited scientific validity, it nevertheless provides the impetus for linking portraiture and emotion. He has written five cookbooks, including the well-reviewed kitchen companion The Green Kitchen (also published by Kyle Books), and has won two Glenfiddich Awards for his work in the Independent on Sunday. He's also the author of 80 Recipes for Your Breadmaker, another book in the series.
