Teddy and Rabbit by Mark Burgess
Teddy and Rabbit and friends are planning a picnic outing, but when they see how fed up Penguin is they realize that they will have to try hard to cheer him up if he is to come with them...Everyone is getting ready for the picnic that Crocodile is holding, everyone that is except for Penguin who is too sad to go. One by one Penguin's friends try their best to cheer him up. Rabbit does a little dance for Penguin and soon he is not looking quite so unhappy. Mouse performs some magic tricks and although they all go wrong Penguin starts to smile. Finally Elephant tells Penguin a joke and even though he can't remember how it goes Penguin is soon roaring with laughter. Penguin is now very cheerful, and accompanied by his friends he sets off for the picnic.
