PEARL ist in besonderem Mae auf die ProzeautomatisiefUng zugeschnitten und stellt eine dem ingenieurmaigen Denken leicht zugangliche und genormte Begriffswelt zur Verrugung. Es kann nun nicht das Ziel eines solchen Buches sein, das als Bindeglied zwischen Theorie und Implementation verstanden werden will, Vollstandigkeit anzustreben. Vielmehr mussen die wesentlichen Aspekte der Realzeit-Software als Bestandteil von Automatisierungssystemen an Hand von Anwendungs-Beispielen verdeutlicht werden, was hier im Sinne eines Denkens in PEARL geschieht. Dabei wurde bewut davon ausgegangen, da z. B. zur Vervollstandigung der Kenntnisse uber die PEARL-Sprachkonstrukte der PEARL 90 -Sprachreport bzw. andere Bucher uber PEARL herangezogen werden mussen, wie sie im Literaturverzeichnis angegeben sind.
