Beginner's Chinese Script by Elizabeth Scurfield
An introduction to the script form of Chinese, opening up the fundamentals of Chinese reading and writing. It leads the reader through the basics step-by-step, involving numerous exercises and self-testing activities with many examples taken from real situations, Chinese signs, notices and banners. The book is designed to be used by readers whatever their stage of learning: whether they want a "taster" of the language, are attending a self-access course, or are teaching themselves the basics for a trip to China or Chinese speaking countries.
Elizabeth Scurfield co-founded the Chinese Department at the University of Westminster and set up the first ever UK student exchange scheme with China in 1976. She has taught Chinese for nearly 40 years.
