Smyth, John: - John Smyth is visiting professor of Education and Social Justice at the University of Huddersfield, Emeritus Research Professor at Federation University Australia, and Emeritus Professor of Education at Flinders University of South Australia. He completed his PhD at University of Alberta in 1979. He has held professorships in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, is a former Senior Fulbright Research Scholar, an elected fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and recipient of several research awards from the American Educational Research Association. John is the author/ editor of 40 academic books, 350 papers in academic journals and book chapters, and is the Series Editor Palgrave MacMillan Critical University Studies. Most recent books include The Toxic University: Zombie leadership, academic rock stars and neoliberal ideology (Palgrave, 2017, 2018) and Education and working class youth: towards a politics of inclusion (with Simmons, Palgrave, 2018). His research interests are sociology of education and critical policy analyses of education.
