The Curve: A Novel by Jeremy Blachman
The students at Manhattan Law School, a decrepit institution on the edge of the toxic Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, are mad as hell - in debt up to their eyeballs and fighting over the few legal jobs left for those who are far outside the Ivy League. Our hero, Adam Wright, is a newly minted professor with high hopes and low expectations.
"Is 'The Curve' a searing indictment of the industry of legal education? Or an idealistic vision of the possibilities that remain for those whose hearts are pure? It's both, of course, and a book that only such talented insiders as Blachman and Stracher could have writtenBut more important it's a great read. Every page, and frequently every paragraph, made me stop to laugh or wince, or more often both. Painfully funny, surprisingly touching, and not just knowing but wise." -- Kermit Roosevelt, Professor of Law, University of Pennsylvania Law School, and author of Allegiance and In the Shadow of the Law
