Norwegischer Erzähler und Dramatiker, geboren am 08.12.1832 in Kvikne (Ostnorwegen), gestorben am 26.04.1910 in Paris. Er brach sein Studium zugunsten der journalistischen und literarischen Tätigkeit ab. Er war Direktor des norwegischen Theaters in Bergen und Theaterleiter in Oslo. Bjørnson erhielt 1903 den Nobelpreis für Literatur. Er ist der Verfasser der norwegischen Nationalhymne.
