The Griffin And Oliver Pie by Michael Lawrence

Oliver Pie is thrilled when he finds an ancient stone griffin under the weeds and ivy beyond the garden wall, but the griffin is crumbly and crotchety. Once it was the proud Guardian of Hidden Treasure - now it is sad and neglected. But Oliver Pie is determined to become its friend...
'The curiousity of Oliver, the magic of the Griffin and the careful depiction of emition are reminiscent of Edith Nesbit's writing.. Truly here is a tale that is timely and, like its subject, is something to be treasured.' -- Achuka 20060701
Michael Lawrence originally trained as a graphic designer and photographer, but subsequently became a television script reader, press officer, an art and antiques dealer, a painter and sculptor, and several other things he would rather not talk about. His first book, a novel for children, was published in 1995. He is now a full time author, creator of the popular Jiggie McCue books, and the Aldous Lexicon trilogy. Baby Christmas is his first picture book for Orchard.
