Seumus MacManus (1869-1960) was an Irish author, playwright and historian from Donegal. He worked for the Weekly Irish Times, and emigrated to America in 1899. His books include: In Chimney Corners (1899), Donegal Fairy Stories (1900), A Lad of the O'Friels (1903), The Story of the Irish Race (1921), The Donegal Wonder Book (1926) and his autobiography The Rocky Road to Dublin (1938).Donegal Fairy Tales, In Chimney-Corners, The Donegal Wonder-Book, The Well o' the World's End, and A Lad of the O'Friels were among the many books published in the United States by Seumas MacManus, a prolific Donegal-based author. He wrote tales to Harper's and The Century, two of the most prestigious journals of the day. He was married to Anna Johnson, who authored two volumes of verse, The Passionate Heart and The Four Winds of Erin, under the pen name Ethna Carbery.
