Kuther, Tara L.: -

Tara L. Kuther is Professor of Psychology at Western Connecticut State University where she has taught courses in child, adolescent, and adult development since 1996. She earned her BA in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University and her MA and PhD in Developmental Psychology at Fordham University. Dr. Kuther's research on moral development, social cognition, and risks to adolescent development has appeared in journals such as Journal of Adolescence, Journal of Early Adolescence, Addictive Behaviors, and the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry. Dr. Kuther is particularly interested in promoting undergraduate and graduate students' professional development and has authored over a dozen books intended to help students navigate the challenges of pursing undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology.

Dr Kuther is Fellow of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (American Psychological Association, Division 2). Her interest in promoting excellence in college teaching has influenced her scholarly and professional activities. Dr. Kuther's work examining ethical issues that arise in higher education and methods of sensitizing students to ethical issues has appeared in journals such as Teaching of Psychology, College Teaching, and Gerontology and Geriatrics Education. Currently the chair of the Society for Research in Child Development Teaching Committee, Dr. Kuther has also been active in the Society for the Teaching of Psychology as Executive Committee member, chair of the Task Force on Instructional Research Awards, and chair of the Long Range Planning Committee.
